The Lucky Ones
~Summer~
"Wow!" I hear someone say as they came in. I turned. It was River, along with Jesse, Jack, Matty, Brittany, and Justin following. They all smiled at me. My bridesmaids were scattered around the room getting ready. My maid of honor was next to me looking into the full length mirror on the wall. Kellin's groomsmen wore small red rose boutonnières and black shoes.
I was wearing my dress, the one I've been waiting so long to wear. I had my beautiful engagement ring on my right ring finger, and my music note ring on my left index finger (it finally fits). I had on black sparkly heels. My black hair was wavy and my veil was in. I wasn't going to do the whole veil over the face thing. I wore diamond earrings, no ring or stud in my lip, and no nose ring. Around my neck was my heart necklace. My tattoos showed and my nails were black and white. I also had my white garters. I had two on. One for him to take off and throw into the crowd of single men and then one for us to keep. It's like how I have a different bouquet to throw than the one I walk down the aisle holding and such.
I had my something old: my earrings. My mom wore them on her wedding day, as did my sister. My sister's daughter will wear them on hers, as will Scarlett (hopefully). It's like a tradition.
I had my something new: my dress. It cost a lot and even though I only get to wear it once it's simply amazing! I also had my garters.
I had my something borrowed: my shoes. I looked and looked and looked, but I could not find the perfect shoes for my wedding day. I remember calling up Blu and her saying I could borrow her black heels. She sent me a picture of heels and I fell in love with them. Luckily we are the same shoe size.
And finally, I had my something blue: a heart. In my dress on the left hand side there is a small blue heart sewn in. No one can see it unless you either turned my dress inside out or looked down the front. Also, my underwear was blue. But, the only person who gets to know that is Kellin.
"You look amazing Summy!" Jesse complimented, using the nickname he knows I dislike.
I smiled at him. "Thanks Jess!"
Blu came over to me and fixed the veil on my head. You could see the black color of my hair through the veil.
"Summer, you look stunning! I can't believe the wedding starts in ten minutes," Brittany said.
"I know…" I sounded nervous. Am I? A little, I guess. I mean, who isn't on their wedding day?
"Don't worry, Summer," Blu said, noticing the way I spoke. "Tonight is your night. You look beautiful, Kellin probably looks handsome, you two look great together…"
I looked Blu over. Her dress hugged her bloated tummy well and her red heels weren't too high. All my other bridesmaids were dressed almost the same with pretty much the same bouquet.
"Thank you. Tonight is going to be amazing, no matter how nervous I am."
"That's the spirit, you beautiful bride you!" Hailee said, coming over to us from across the room.
"Come on guys, we gotta go line up," Jack said. Kellin's groomsmen all agreed. They pushed and shoved each other out of the doorway of the room my girls and I were in. It's not a hotel room. It's more like a room for the brides to get ready in. This hotel holds a lot of weddings so they have a room for the bride and her maids.
Brittany turned to leave and probably go sit down. Before leaving she said, "Good luck!"
I breathed in and out. Only seven more minutes now. My bridesmaids were already leaving the room to go get lined up with the guys. My stomach was tied and knots. I was nervous, shaking, sweating. The fact that this will be the best day of my life calmed me down a bit. People were probably starting to take their seats and the guys were probably ready to walk my girls.
Blu and I were the only ones left in the room. "The weddings about to start. Five more minutes. We gotta go line up. You ready?" she asked.
I grabbed my bouquet and swallowed hard. "Yeah Blu, I'm ready," I whispered back.
We both walked out of the room to go get in line. Seeing the line of our wedding party only made me more nervous. I looked over to see Ian smiling happily at me. I stood next to him and we locked arms.
"You look beautiful. Kellin is lucky guy," whispered Ian.
I wanted to say something back, but I was tongue tied. It didn't matter much because the doors to the entrance were opened and Trent walked through them, escorting Brenda.
No more minutes left. This is happening now. One pairing by one pairing, the line got shorter. Soon enough Matty was walking Blu down the aisle.
I looked up at Ian. The music started playing, signaling that there is no turning back from here on out.
"Ready?" I was asked.
"Ready." We took a step forward slowly. Only a couple more and we were in the room, stepping on a long white carpet. I took this time to note everything.
Our wedding guests were standing, taking pictures and mumbling to each other. On the left side was my family and friends. On the right was Kellin's.
The young officiant, probably about the same age as us, stood behind a podium. The Bible was laid out in front of him on it and a small microphone was clipped to his suit. A microphone was also attached to the podium so our guests could here us when we spoke.
To his left was Kellin. He smiled wider than ever. Wider than the first time he proposed and way wider than the second. He wore a suit with a white rose boutonnière and fancy shoes. Much more fancier than my TOMS. They went well with my maids' red pumps.
Only about five more steps…
Four…
Don't trip…
Three…
Almost there…
Two…
So freaking close…
One…
I was facing Kellin. My smile was probably no bigger than his. I had no more nerves, doubts, or fears. I trust him.
"Who gives this woman to this man in marriage?" the officiant asked.
"I do," Ian said proudly. I couldn't imagine anyone else I wanted to give me away. Out of all my guy friends, Ian has been there the longest. Yes, I met them all at the same time (except for Steve who I met later on), but Ian has always been by my side. He's great. I don't understand why his ex left him.
I stepped forward once more, as did Kellin, to meet in the middle. Ian, with his right hand, took my right hand from his left arm and placed it in Kellin's left hand. Kellin took a step forward during the transition to accept the hand off. I passed my bouquet to Blu, then faced my groom and placed my left hand in his right.
The ceremony began.
"We are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the joining of Summer James Parker and Kellin Quinn Bostwick in marriage. With love, trust, commitment, and so much more they have decided to live their lives together as husband and wife.
"Summer and Kellin, today you choose each other before your family and friends, to begin your life together. For all the tomorrows that follow, you will choose each other over and over again, in the privacy of your hearts. Let your love and friendship guide you, as you learn and grow together. Experience the wonders of the world, even as patience and wisdom calm the restless nature. Through your partnership, triumph over the challenges in your path. Through the comfort of loving arms, may you always find a safe place to call home.
"Kellin?" the officiant said. "Would you like to begin the vows?"
He nodded. He didn't pull out a chest sheet with his words written on them, so I guess he's got this down by heart. I know I've got mine down. "Yes. Summer, I love you for all that you are, once were, and ever will be. I love and respect you deeply. You have me completely wrapped around your finger. I'm in love with everything about you. You are absolutely gorgeous, you have the voice of an angel, you're the smartest person I know, and you are the funniest. I've never met anyone as sweet as you and never will again. I'm lucky to have you for the rest of my life and I'm lucky you'll actually have me. You deserve much more, so thank you for settling for me. I love you."
I stared wide eyed at him. That was the sweetest thing I've ever heard. It definitely beats mine.
"Summer?" It was now my turn.
"Kellin, you are simply amazing. You're charming, handsome, talented, sweet, funny, and much more. I'm the lucky one. For some strange reason, after all I've out you through, you still want me. That means the world to me, to know that you'll always be by my side. In you I found the love of my life and my closest, truest friend. Thank you, and… I love you. More than anything."
"Beautiful, you two. Now Summer, do you take Kellin to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part? To be your constant friend, your faithful partner, and love from now until forever?"
"I do," I whispered, blushing. Kellin's eyes were pouring into mine, as if he couldn't grasp what I said in my vows. In reality, I couldn't grasp what he said in his.
"And do you, Kellin, take Summer to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part? To be your constant friend, your faithful partner, and love from now until forever?"
He smirked. "I do…"
"Now, anyone object to a prayer?" the officiant asked. No words were spoken. He began the prayer as we all closed our eyes and looked down. Afterwards he looked away from the Bible in his hands. "The rings?" The officiant looked over to Matty. Matty handed over the rings to him, which he put on the Bible. He extended the Bible in his arms out to Kellin. "Kellin, as you place the ring on Summer finger repeat after me. With this ring, I thee wed."
Kellin grabbed the silver and black rose ring and slipped it onto my left ring finger. "With this ring, I thee wed…"
"Summer, as you place Kellin's ring on his finger repeat after me. With this ring, I thee wed."
I giggled. I put his ring on his finger. "With this ring," I mumbled, "I thee wed.l
"You have for each other special rings; symbols that love is the most precious element in your life together. The ring has no beginning and no ending, which symbolizes that the love between you will never cease. You place these rings upon each others fingers as a visible sign of your vows this day, which will make you husband and wife," the officiant spoke.
The rings fit perfectly on our fingers. We were meant to wear these, to signify our love with these rings.
The officiant smiled widely at us before speaking again. "And now, by the power vested in me by the state of Michigan, I hereby pronounce you husband and wife. Kellin, you may kiss your bride."
No time was wasted. Kellin let go of my hands at grasp my waist. His lips were on mine in the blink of an eye. My hands went to his face. I held him closely, fearing he would pull away. But he didn't. Our lips moved in sync as our family and friends stood, clapped, cheered, and whistled. I didn't think too much about them though. After a few more seconds we both pulled away slowly. We were smiling like idiots, happy to finally be married. We're finally married…
"Ladies and Gentlemen." Kellin grasped my left hand with his right. "Family and Friends." We turned to face our audience. "I present to you, for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Kellin Quinn." The cheering and clapping and standing for us began again.
We walked down the aisle, our fingers interlocked, our hearts in each others' hands, as Mr. and Mrs. Quinn, the lucky ones you hear about in stories who were given a second chance to live, laugh, learn, and love…
We're the lucky ones…A/N: I need an artist, someone creative. I would like for someone to make a logo or two. For example, the All Time Low skull or the w/ Sleeping With Sirens has. Something little but meaningful like that, and also something Summer could get a tattoo of. Like Alex Gaskarth's skull tattoo or Kellin Quinn's w/ tattoo. So, if you could make me a full band logo and a little sign thing like the skull. Something unique. If so, I will owe you BIG TIME! I will do whatever you want. You could use this as a kind of guide. Use whatever font you think works best and get creative with the logo!
