Chapter 9. Sweet Little Surprise

~Summer~

"Summer, I'm sorry for the way I've acted lately. I'm being a dick when I shouldn't be. I love you, I really do. With everything I've got. But… I just need to get this stuff done. I need to finish this tour, finish things with the new Anthem Made line, and stop arguing with Bethany over Scarlett. Call back soon, okay? Love you."

That was the message from Kellin I received when I woke up. I had two texts from him as well, but I ignored them. I'm not too mad at him anymore. I guess this is the best for both of us. But, I'm not ready to take much just yet. It's not that I'm ignoring him, it's just that I've got things to go do.

I woke up at 8:30 AM. Mom was probably already up and making herself coffee. I woke up early to shower and get ready. I have a doctors appointment at 9:40 today. I'm going to have my first appointment for my baby.

I took a shower and got dresses. I left my person piercingless and my hair in it's natural straight state. I put on barely any makeup, a thin black tank top, pink shorts with blue designs, and my sparkly black TOMS. My bump was a bit visible, which made this all so real. I have a baby bump. Cool.

I slipped my phone into my pocket and walked into the kitchen to see my mom not only drinking coffee, but playing Facebook games on her iPad too. She looked up at me and mumbled a "good morning."

"Morning Mom. You mind if I take your car for a couple hours?" I asked

"Why?"

"I have a doctors appointment. Instead of waiting awhile to go to the one in Michigan, I'm going to one today," I said.

She shrugged and pointed to the key rack with her car keys. "Sure, just be careful with my car. Does Kellin know you're having your first appointment without him?"

I shook my head no and grabbed the car keys. "Nope. He called and texted this morning, but I'm going to wait until after my appointment to call back. I gotta go. I'll text you about the appointment when it's over."

"Okay, bye Summer!" she called as I walked to the front door.

"Bye Mom. Love you!" I called back. I walked outside and slipped into her car. It's a small, back convertible. She loves this car more than casino games on the Internet. I'm surprised she allowed me to use it.

I shrugged it off and drove to my appointment. The doctors office wasn't too far from my mother's house. I'm seeing the doctor my sister saw when she was pregnant with her kids.

I do slightly feel bad that the father of the little one growing inside of me isn't here for his first appointment. But, Kellin kicked me off of his tour when I still think I did nothing wrong. Whatever. If he wants to fight with his wife, then that's his problem. I don't want to fight with him, so the problem isn't mine.

I pulled into the parking lot on time and walked into the waiting room. This is pretty exciting. The first appointment. I wonder when we actually get to see if our little boy is a little boy like we think. I'm sure he is, just like Blu is sure she's having a little girl. When our kids grow up, they need to become best friends. That's a rule.

Dr. Piloskii is her name. Like pill-awe-ski. It's weird, but it fits. She is no average doctor. Instead of a nurse coming to get me, she did. She asked me personal questions, like about my favorite color or food. Here's the cool part, she even wore black vans. Her whole outfit screamed professional, from her head to her ankles. I guess that's why Sierra said I'd like her. A little stereotypical, but correct. Dr. Piloskii isn't bad at all.

She seemed too young to e a doctor, though Sierra says she's thirty-seven. In fact, she didn't even seem like a doctor besides her pants suit. Her long brown hair has a blond streak in it, her nose has a stud, her ears hold three love piercings each, her dark skin was clear and smooth, her torso was skinny, and her feet were covered vans. Also, I couldn't help but notice the music notes tattooed behind her left ear.

Dr. Piloskii took my blood pressure and I gave a urine sample. After that and a couple questions, she had me lay down and pull up my tank top. "Oh, look at that bump!" To top things off, she even spoke with sass. She is nothing I would imagine a doctor to be like, but that's perfectly okay.

I chucked while she smeared cold gel on my stomach. I have gotten an ultrasound before, so I know what the gel is like. Except I've never had an ultrasound because I'm pregnant. I've had ultrasounds because of my heart, which is nowhere close to being a baby bump.

"So," Dr. Piloskii said as the ultrasound began. Stuff showed up on the screen while she moved around the remote thing. Sorry, I don't know medical terminology, but I do know music! "Where's the daddy?"

"Touring. He's in a band," I said.

"Oh! That's exciting! Sierra said you are in one too!"

I nodded as best as I could on his crappy bed-thingy. "Yeah, I am. We're taking a break from touring to record our new record right now. My husband though, he still has to tour all the time. It gets… stressful sometimes," I said, thinking about Kellin. I bet he would have liked to be here…

Nothing else was said. Not because things got awkward, or I got upset. No, because on the screen we could see two little embryos making almost unseen movements. Two? Two?! Yes, two. There are two babies inside of me? Yes, two! No wonder my bump was bigger than I thought it should! That makes sense.

"Well, would you think at that! Girl, you're about nine weeks along with twins! Congrats!" the doctor exclaimed. Wow.

I sat up and wiped off the gel with a towel that she handed to me. Two babies… I don't know what to say or think. Kellin and I are having twins. Scarlett is getting two little brothers (or sisters, or one of both).

Before I left, Dr. Piloskii gave me an ultrasound picture of the babies. I thanked her and we set up an appointment for eight weeks from now. As soon as I got into my mom's car I shot her a text. 'MOMMY! You won't believe it. Kells and I are having twins!!'

Before driving away, I called Kellin back. I can't keep this from him; I'm not going to this time. I didn't tell him about me being pregnant right away. So, I should tell him right away about the twins. Besides, he is the father of them.

"Hello?" he answered.

"Hey…"

"Summer! Hey! I, uh… I'm glad you called," he said.

I chuckled. "Um… yeah. I had to sooner or later. And now seemed like the perfect time."

"Look, I'm sorry for the way I treated you. I should have treated you with more love and respect, because I do love and respect you. I've been a dick on ice lately, and I'm sorry. I know you aren't happy with me right now. But, to make up for it, I have some good news."

"Kellin, I forgive you. I'm still a little pissed, but I forgive you. I love you too and I have good news also," I said.

"Your going to love mine," he said. I could practically here the smile in his voice. "I found a house in Oregon. I'll email the details and website to you, but I promise you it's perfect!"

My jaw dropped. "Kellin, that's great!" I exclaimed. I hope he's right, because house hunting isn't fun.

"I know! I'm excited! So, what's your good news?" Kellin asked.

Welp, here goes nothing. Time to tell him our sweet little surprise. "I went to the doctors today. I found out that I'm two months along… with twins. Surprise!"
