Case File Four: Awkward Haunting

Kenneth was at work at the college stationed at his desk off to the side where he could look over the student assistants Veronica and Holly who were working the front desk. Suddenly Veronica turned over towards him.

"Hey Kenneth, there's a calling coming in for you."

"Ok, go ahead and transfer it to me...Hello, this is Kenneth, how can I help you?"

"Hi, this is Kenneth Cohl, correct, the young man that's been on the news and in the papers?"

"Yes that's me."

"I need your help; someone has been stealing from me."

"Ma'am, that's probably something for the police."

"I tried, they won't help me, no one else will."

"Why won't the police help you?"

"Because I told them the thief is a ghost, and they won't believe me."

"The thief...is a ghost?"

"Yes please I'm begging you, come and hear me out, I need someones help."

"Ok ma'am, give me a name and an address and I'll be there later today."

"Bless you child, so much."

She gave him her name and address and he went on the internet to find the best route there. After he had the information he put a call in to the police station to find if she really called them about it.

"Hi there, this is Kenneth Cohl, is Inspector Salvo available?"

"Hey Kenneth, how are you doing?"

"Good inspector, I was hoping you may be able to give me some information."

"Well, what is it you're looking for?"

"I just got a call from Ms. Melanie Woods about items being stolen from her house, I told her to call the police, she told me she did, but they wouldn't help her."

"Yes I saw that report earlier, she did call and she was going on about a ghost was stealing from her, so we didn't follow on anything."

"So no one went out to check on her?'

"That's a negative."

"Well, I'll be going out to have a look later; I can't turn down a request, even if I am just a last resort."

"Alright then, enjoy chasing ghosts."

The day went on and Veronica had left for the day and Holly was left up at the front, so Kenneth went up there with her. She was still fairly new and liked to start conversations.

"So there was a murder here?"

"That's right, it was in that bathroom."

"The killer got caught?"

"Yup, I didn't let him get away."

"So you actually caught him, that's cool."

"Yea, I'm trying to become a detective like my dad was."

"So was that your first case?"

"It was the first one I solved myself, the very first one my dad was with me, since then though I have solved two others."

"Oh really, Where at?"

"One at the theatre and the other at a restaurant."

"So you really are that Kenneth Cohl that's been on the news, I didn't believe it at first."
