Chapter 4

On the way home, I listened to my IPhone and looked out the window. As soon as we walked through the door, I went to my room and did my homework. Once I was finished I walked into the living room.

"Dylan, Kim is staying over tonight. That OK?" I asked, knowing he would say sure.

"That girl is such a flirt, if Luke stays while she's here then, yeah she can stay." He joked looking at Luke hopefully.

"Sure, I'll stay over, but she better not flirt with me. That would just be weird!" Luke stated.

"Why?" I asked

"Because, I like someone else at the moment, and I'm not a cheater." He answered simply.

Of course, the new blonde on the scene. I think her name was Vicki Mason; she slept round a lot, and never used protection. She was one of Emma's friends, and I'm guessing Emma had made sure Vicki got Luke this week so he would be ready for her. Gross!

I gagged at the thought and he scowled at me. "Vicki is not that bad. You don't have room to judge anyway, crushing on Jamie Norton. Eww!" He scoffed. "Well at least Jamie doesn't sleep around all the time." I added, glaring at him. How dare he compare her to Jamie? They were nothing alike; she slept with every boy in school, when Jamie hated sleeping around.

He glared back. "Don't start with me; you still haven't thanked me for saving you with Jesse today!" He shouted making me and my siblings flinch. Shouting reminded us of our dad; he was always shouting and hitting us. Luke's face softened when he saw me flinch. I ran to my room before I burst into tears, some already escaping down my cheeks. I heard footsteps behind me and something jammed the door as I tried to close it.

"Sydney? Sydney, I'm so sorry. I didn't think." Luke said softly as he closed the door and walked over to, enveloping me in his arms. I couldn't hold it back anymore; the sob tore from my throat. His grip tightened on me as my legs gave way, lifting me and sitting on the bed, putting me on his lap. I cried on his shoulder while he whispered in my ear that everything was ok, and no one was going to hurt me.

I started to calm down and pulled back slightly, looking up into his gorgeous green eyes. They were full of sorrow as he looked down at me, I smiled weakly at him and he smiled a small, sad smile back. "I'm so sorry, Sydney!" He whispered, tears in his eyes.

Luke's POV

"Don't start with me; you still haven't thanked me for saving you with Jesse today!" I shouted. I don't know why I was angry with her. I didn't like Vicki that much, so why was I defending her? Sydney flinched and just before she turned, I saw a tear fall down her cheek.

She ran to her room, trying to slam the door behind her, but I stopped it with my foot, opening it. "Sydney? Sydney, I'm so sorry. I didn't think." I explained softly as I closed the door. I walked over to her, grabbing her in a hug. Almost immediately she started sobbing onto my chest, I felt awful. How could I have shouted at her? She'd had enough of that in her life already.

Her legs gave way and I tightened my grip on her, lifting her and sitting her on the bed, sitting her on my lap as she continued sobbing. After a few minutes she started to calm down and slowly pulled back looking up at me. She looked me in the eyes and gave me a weak smile, so I smiled back, but my smile was small and sad. How could I?

"I'm so sorry, Sydney!" I whispered, I could feel the tears prickling my eyes. I hated seeing her upset. Blinking them back, I hugged her again, she wrapped her arms around my neck and I whispered soothingly in her ear. Shortly after, she fell asleep in my arms, I looked at her and sighed, she was so beautiful and my stomach did a flip that she was asleep in my arms. I didn't have any feelings for Sydney though; she was my Best Friends Sister.

After an hour, she stirred, I looked down at her. She opened her eyes slowly and looked up at me. A shocked expression went across her face before realisation did. "Hey! Come on, let's get you some food and water birthday girl!" I said getting up and setting her on her feet. She seemed torn about something; I could see it in her eyes, so I gave her a playful shove towards the door. She laughed, making my heart stop. What was going on with me?

"Are you coming?" She asked quietly, looking at me hopefully.

"Yes, Star. Now come on, Kim will be here soon." I explained dragging her out of her room. Everyone was sitting in the living room, including Kim. Whoops!

Sydney looked at Kim apologetically. "Sorry, Kim. When did you get here? And why did no one come and wake me up?" She asked looking around the room. I laughed quietly at her. She was so cute!

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Backup, did I just think of a girl as cute? No, hot! I meant hot!

"Its fine, Syd. Calm down. I didn't want anyone to wake you up; they said you were upset and probably sleeping it off." Kim answered quickly. I looked over at Dylan who was eyeing me, he looked smug, knowing and surprised. I just looked at him confused. Why was he looking like that?

'What?' I mouthed.

'Nothing. Nothing.' He mouthed back.

Rosie had come over during the hour as well. "Right, now you're up, Sydney, I'm going to start cooking dinner if you don't mind." Rosie said smiling at Syd warmly.

I looked over at Kim; she was looking at Dylan, kind of strangely. She looked away when Dylan looked at her; he had the same look on his face. That's when it hit me! They were in love! Omg. Dylan. My best friend. Was in love! Eww!
