Chapter 5
Sydney's POV
"Hey" I answered the door smiling.
"Hey, you look great, Sydney!" He said, looking me over. "Did Jesse ask you to the party for me yesterday? Sorry I couldn't do it myself, I was kind of busy." Jamie asked wincing slightly.
"Yeah, he did and don't worry about it. I said yes by the way, I will go to the party with you." I assured him, he looked slightly worried.
"Good! Come on, let's go!" He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the door. I let go of his hand to say goodbye to Emily, Dylan, Nathan and Luke then turned and closed the door behind me. I walked out to his car and he opened my door for me. "Very gentleman like, Jamie." I congratulated.
We talked easily on the way to the restaurant. When I stepped into the restaurant I looked around wide eyed. It was so romantic. Candles on every table and heart shaped napkins set out with your cutlery. We both ordered the spaghetti bolognaise, while I had a chocolate milkshake and Jamie had a coke.
"So, Luke's always around you! Any reason?" Jamie asked, suddenly, catching me by surprise.
I chocked on air, why did Jamie want to talk about Luke? "Urm, I'm not really sure, him, Dylan, Nate and Sean have an instinct to protect me and Emily." I explained, gasping for breath.
"Oh OK. So does he like you in a non-friend way or something then? I mean Sean's protective of Emily, and their in love. Doesn't that mean he might love you?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
Wow, ok, never thought of it like that. "He wouldn't be with Vicki Mason if he liked me." I told him. "Can we just leave it please?" I begged, not wanting to talk about this that much. He nodded
The date past quickly, and before I knew it we were back outside my door. He turned and before I could register what he was doing, he kissed me. Just a quick kiss though.
"Bye, sleep tight!" He told me before going back to his car and driving off into the night. I walked in; everyone was out of the house tonight. I started thinking about the kiss, it was my first and I didn't feel what I thought I would, there were no fireworks, which meant I wasn't crazy for Jamie after all, maybe it was just his looks.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. I answered it quickly, seeing Luke standing outside the door. "Hey. Is Dylan home?" He asked walking past me into the house.
"Come in why don't you? And no, Dylan is on a date with Cindy Barnes, Nate's staying over Rosie's and Emily's over yours with Sean." I stated as he sat down on the couch. I went and sat next to him. "So? How was the date then?" He asked catching me off guard.
"Good actually, he took me to this really romantic restaurant with candles on the tables and napkins shaped like hearts. He was so sweet. And then he kissed me!" I said frowning at the last part.
"Did someone not like the kiss?" Luke asked smirking.
"I don't know, they say your ment to see fireworks when you kiss the one you love but there were none between me and Jamie." I explained. My eyes dropped to his lips they looked so soft and inviting.
"Maybe he wasn't...." He started, but I cut him off. Kissing Luke felt great and I even heard the fireworks going off in my head. I brought my arms up wrapping them around his neck, grabbing one hand into his hair. His arms slide around me waist as he nibbled me bottom lip, asking for entrance. I opened my mouth, this was my first proper kiss and I didn't know what to expect. His tongue slide in and his taste exploded in my mouth. He moaned quietly as his tongue touched mine, making me do the same. He pulled away as I was slightly breathless.
Suddenly, reality hit me.
Omg! I'd just kissed Luke. My brother's best friend. What is Dylan going to say when he finds out?
I let go of his hair, unwrapping my arms from him. He looked at me shocked, he opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out so he closed it again. I got up quickly, looking down at him, dumbfounded. He got up to, dropping his arms from my waist.
"I....I...." I couldn't speak.
"What the f*ck was that?" He asked.
"A kiss?" I asked, still kind of shocked myself. I felt something in that kiss. I saw fireworks. FIREWORKS!
"Well duhh. I mean why did you do it?" He asked, frowning at me.
"I don't know." I answered truthfully.
He thought for a minute. "I don't like you in that way, Sydney." He admitted, making my heart crush for some reason, I knew he didn't, so why did it hurt?
"I know. Night Luke." I turned and went to my bedroom getting changed.
What was wrong with me? Had I really just kissed Luke? My hand shot to my mouth, my fingers trailing across my lips softly, just remembering it. I couldn't fall asleep, I kept thinking about the kiss. Did Luke even like it?
Tomorrow was going to be so awkward. We were all going to the roller rink for my birthday and Luke was coming to, just to keep Dylan company. Omg! Why did I do that? And why were there fireworks when I kissed him? What am I going to do?
Finally, I drifted off into a nice peaceful sleep.
