Chapter 8
Sydney’s POV
As I starting to wake up, I registered two arms wrapping me in a tight embrace. Immediately I flinched away from the contact and fell out of bed. I looked up to see Emily staring down at me with tears and hurt in her eyes. “Hey, Syd. You alright? You seem a little freaked out.” Emily asked as I got up from the floor. Next this I know the door burst open and my two brothers’ ran inside. They stopped in their tracks when they saw me standing there.
“Hey, you hungry Syd? I was just making some bacon, come on!” Dylan said as he moved towards me. His hand touched my arm, making me flinch again. Dylan looked at me, shock across his face. “Sydney, you’re safe. I promise! We won’t let him near you again.”
I knew I was safe, but I was still scared. I don’t ever want to be touched again. I thought to myself as I looked to the floor. I realised I was still in my ripped dress. “Urm, I’ll be out in a bit guys. I just want to get changed first.” I told them as I went over to my wardrobe and grabbed a pair of jeans, white vest top and a red blue and white checked shirt. They all left me to change with sad expressions on their faces.
Get a grip. These guys are your family. Why would they hurt you? They care about you. Stupid, stupid Sydney! I thought as I walked into my bathroom, looking at my clock as I walked past. It was half past ten. Luckily, today was a bank holiday so no school.
Dylan’s POV
I walked out of room, still in shock. How could Sydney think I was going to hurt her? That creep Jamie, he made her like this. I am so going to kill him tomorrow when we go to school. I walked back into the kitchen and continued to cook the bacon and eggs. After about 5 minutes my phone started ringing, I looked at the caller ID to see it was Luke.
“Hey man, what’s up?” I answered, setting all the food out on the table. Nate and Em came and sat up the table, while I walked to my room.
“Hey, how’s she doing? I haven’t heard any screams so I take that as a good sign?” Luke asked, he sounded slightly concerned over the phone.
“Yeah, she hasn’t screamed yet. But, dude, she flinches away from contact now. I don’t know what is gonna happen to her now.” I replied, why did Jamie have to be such an ass?
I heard a big sigh come through the phone. “What you going to do if it gets worse?” Luke said. I took a deep breath. “Dude, it can’t get worse! If it does that Jamie kid better watch his back!” I stated. I was starting to get angry, that douche took my little sisters innocence, all because he was drunk!
“Sean and I are coming over. Got any breakfast for us?” Luke asked. “Yeah sure” I replied and hung up, walking to the door and unlocking it quickly so they could let themselves in. I went and sat at the table and shortly after Luke and Sean rounded the corner into the dining room.
Sean went straight to Em and hugged her. “What happened this morning, baby?” Sean asked as Em started to cry. “Sydney, w-woke up. And s-she suddenly flinched p-pretty hard and f-fell out of the b-bed. She thought I w-would hurt her!” Emily told us all as she broke into sobs.
I looked over at Luke to see shock written clear across his face. “Babe, it’s alright. She probably didn’t realise she was home with her family. She might have thought she was still at Rosie’s with Jamie.” Sean explained calmly and softly.
