The mountains were fast approaching as Loki and I sat silently in the car. I sped along as fast as I could without attracting too much attention.
This is when I began to seriously question my judgment. I know I needed to get to Asgard, but I'm sure bargaining with Loki wasn't the easiest way to do that. But then again, Thor looked much scarier then Loki did.
"Keep driving up," ordered Loki, "The portal's at the top." I obeyed and in no time we had almost reached the top.
But my relief was short lived as the sound of helicopters began to fill my ears, and then two appeared overhead. I prayed that they were just search helicopters, looking for a missing person or something. But as soon as I saw the black shine from the one in front over us and I knew I was wrong.
"They've found us!" Loki yelled over the noise.
"No shit!" I yelled back. "Where's this portal?"
"It's at the bottom of the mountain." He replied pointing out over the horizon and down the side of the cliff face.
"What?" I shouted over the noise. "Then why did we drive all the way up here?"
"We needed more momentum than what this machine could provide." He explained as if it were obvious.
I slammed on the breaks, causing us to both lurch forward in our seats. Ahead of us I could see several black cars parked with the S.H.I.E.L.D. symbol painted on the side. There were men holding guns that were pointed right at us and stood in a cautious stance.
I turned to Loki "I'm not driving off a cliff!"
"Do you want to get to Asgard? Well this is the only way!"
Suddenly a tall figure in a red cape appeared mere meters in front of the car. Both Loki and I froze in fear.
The expression Thor wore was enough to make a small child cry. He did not looking happy and I definitely didn't want to get out of the car and ask him why. He lifted his arm, readying a throw.
"Go!" Yelled Loki, I put the car in gear as Thor's hammer went flying threw the front windscreen and out the back.
Slamming on the accelerator, the car lurched forward as I shielded my face from the shattered glass. I heard a loud thump and looked in the rear view mirror to see Thor getting up from off the ground.
The men with guns scattered out of the way while several shot at the car, luckily not hitting anything important. The adrenaline coursed through my veins and I couldn't help but laugh like a lunatic.
That only lasted a view seconds as the edge of the cliff was fast approaching. I slammed on the accelerator and let out a wild scream as the car sailed of the edge of the cliff. I watched as the ground came closer and closer. I closed my eyes and waited for the car to crash and split into a million pieces.
But it never happened.
Instead I heard a splash and felt cold-water grip around my ankles. I opened my eyes and around us was the most amazing blue water. I looked at the horizon and a city of gold lit up in the afternoon sun. A bridge that lead out of the city and to a golden globe that hovered on the horizon caught my eye. It was beautiful. I instantly knew it was Asgard. I began to feel happy until I felt the water rising above my ankles and creeping up my shins.
I quickly jumped out of the car into waist deep water. I laughed as I could see Loki already up on the beach. Running like a child, I was soon next to him.
"This place is amazing!" I exclaimed. "Thank you." He looked at me confused.
"I mean for bringing me here, well telling me how to get here, because technically I brought you here." I blabbed on and Loki put a hand over my mouth.
"You're welcome." He said, with a small smile. "Now please, shut up."
I nodded. "Sure thing." I said more to myself than him.
A sudden whirring noise made me look across the water to the golden globe. Loki pulled me back into the tree line but I continued to watch. The globe began to spin, and even from a distance it was incredible. It shot out a bolt of light and in seconds it was overs.
"Thor's home." Muttered Loki, and he was right. Even from this distance you could see his red cape.
"Wait, that's how you normally travel? Can we do that? It looks way safer than driving off a cliff." I babbled on. Loki ignored me and began walking away. I jogged to catch up to him.
"It's almost nightfall, so we will find a cave out here, it's safer than trying to get into the city at night and in the morning I'll organize the plan."
"We." I added.
"What?"
"You said I, not we." He raised an eyebrow at me and then nodded before turning and walking away. I sighed and trailed after him.
