"What I came here to do." I replied in my mother's voice. The glow under my eyes burned brighter than ever, causing Steve to look at me with shock plastered on his face. I turned away from him and began walking towards Odin.
However the old man didn't look scared, but he positioned himself for a fight. The rest of the officials scattered out of the way and pressed themselves against the walls.
"Skadi, stop this!" Yelled Steve as he got to his feet. But I completely ignored him. I launched myself at Odin, blasting ice at him that he deflected with his staff. I readied another attack but Steve's shield came hurtling at me and knocked me off my feet.
I fixed my eyes on him. "Fine." My mothers voice said. "I'll kill you first."
No! I screamed in my head. I double over in pain, my eyes shut as the glow begun to flicker.
"Kill me." I screamed. I kneeled over as my head lay in my hands. I sobbed. "Steve, please." Another flash of blinding pain hit me in the head. I screamed. I could feel her control taking over. I stood back up and face Steve.
"Kill me." I whispered. Before the green glowed as bright as it did before. I could see Steve feeling conflicted. I tried to force her from my mind again but she wasn't taking any chances. I threw a blast of ice at him, forcing him to roll out of the way. He came running out me throwing punches that I blocked with ease.
He was holding back, and I think everyone could tell. I managed to land a kick to his ribs and he landed a punch to my stomach.
The pain weakened my mothers control for a second and I took the opportunity.
"Steve." I gasped. "Kill me now. Stop playing and just do it." I said hurriedly before the control took over again.
Something flickered behind Steve's eyes and he didn't hesitate this time to attack again. He came out me with full force and I was unprepared. Within seconds I was pinned on the ground.
Struggling to move, a small blade of ice appeared in my hand. But Steve knew it was coming this time and instead of the blade digging into his skin, it sunk into mine. The cold was burning in my thigh.
I gasped as the light from behind my eyes flickered and I regained some control.
"The pain helps stop her control." He quickly explained, not easing his grip on me.
"Thank you." I whispered through the pain. I could feel it coming from all of my wounds now. "And I'm so sorry Steve."
"Don't apologize right now. We need to figure out a way to stop your mothers control." He said hurriedly.
"Unless you want to kill me, there's not a lot you can do." I whispered. The green light began glowering bright again, but Steve flicked the knife and it quickly retreated.
"Steve. You need to let go of me." I whispered.
"I can't. You will kill everyone in this room." He whispered back, his voice wavering.
I shook my head and let out a sob. "No I won't. Only me. Only I will die."
Steve shook his head this time. "You can't. I won't let you do this."
"Please Steve, you have to let go." I sobbed. He took a second before his grip weakened and his weight shifted away from me.
"Thank you." I sobbed, before pulling the blade out of my leg. The pain kept the glow at bay for a second, before I jumped up and sprinted at the window.
I glanced back at Steve, before I let gravitytake effect and pull me over. The green glow returned, but it was too late. Icould feel my mothers despair. But it wasn't at the loss of a daughter; it wasat the loss of a weapon.
