I stood up and struggled to get away, but the guards pushed me too my knees in front of my mother.
"I'm sorry Skadi."
"No you're not." I spat at her, desperately trying to be brave.
She smirked. "You're right."
Her hand rested above my forehead. I closed my eyes, mentally preparing myself for the destruction I was about to cause. Wishing for a way out. Wishing I had made it up to Steve.
Yet a blinding pain erupted through my head, I screamed as I doubled over. Something was trying to squeeze its way into my mind, trying to take over control.
"Just give in Skadi, it won't hurt if you surrender." She said calmly, but there was a flicker of panic behind her voice.
I cried as the pain continued to throb in my head. The darkness behind my eyes slowly began to glow green.
"Give in Skadi." Said my mother's voice. It rang out like it was inside my head, like she was inside my head.
"No, no, no." I whimpered. I couldn't take it for much longer.
I felt my own mind be pushed out of the way as something else made its way to the front. My body moved obediently even though my mind was screaming for it to stop.
I stood silently as my mother smiled and straightened my jacket.
"Welcome to the family." She whispered, before turning and taking the stage at the front of the ship.
"Fellow Soldiers!" She yelled to the army. Although her voice rang loud and clear through my head. Her control was stronger than I had every imagined.
She continued to speak. Motivating the soldiers, getting them riled up for the battle with her words. But I wasn't paying attention.
I was still trying to push the spell from my mind. But it was like trying to push a boulder up a mountain. A very, very steep mountain.
The loud cheers of the army snapped me out of my concentration. I watched my mother stand proudly on her pedestal.
The sun began to sink lower over the horizon.
"Follow me." She ordered Loki and I. We did so with complete obedience. Exiting the ship, we boarded a small, more agile, looking aircraft. It looked like it had been broken apart and built back together by a five year old. But it seemed to please my mother.
"Alright, let's go." Hel ordered several officials, who quickly scampered away. Minutes later the armies began moving towards the mountains, quickly disappearing into several different caves and crevasses.
We flew above the middle group who were disappearing into the largest of the caves. I felt slightly confused at how the portals were staying open, but a faint blue light above the cave answered my question.
"The tesseract. We were able to dig it up from the cave you crushed." My mother started, looking at me. "Loki's practice attempt ensured me that with a stronger army and more soldiers we would easily be able to take Asgard. All we need was you out of the way, as well as your Avengers. But we will get them out of the way soon."
I wanted to scream at her, but I remained motionless. And she laughed at us before looking towards her soldiers below us with a smile of success on her face.
We approached the cave slowly, hovering in with patience as we approached the portal. The city of Asgard came closer into view as we got closer to the portal.
