Death was surprisingly cold, and wet.

Opening my eyes, I was blinded by a bright blue, cloudless sky.

This is not how I imagined hell.

It took me a moment before feeling returned to my body and I rolled over in the white sand, coughing up water. I looked at the figure that sat a few feet away from me. His dark hair was dripping water down his hunched shoulders.

"Are we dead?" I asked, my voice raspy from coughing. He sighed and shook his head.

"Unfortunately not."

"How is that unfortunate?" I huffed. He just shook his head again. "Okay then, well could you at least tell me where we are? If your sure its not the afterlife." Before he could reply, there was a splash in the water, as a familiar looking man appeared gasping for air.

"Great." I heard Loki mumble.

Captain America began paddling towards the shore as Loki stood up and slowly began wandering away.

"Hey! Where do you think your going?" I yelled at him, quickly scampering to my feet. He stopped but didn't turn around.

"You don't need me here." He said over his shoulder. I walked over and stood in front of him, looking him dead in the eye.

"Oh no, you are not getting out of this that easily. You dragged me along here because you had a hissy fit, so you are helping us get out." I growled at him. He looked slightly surprised but shook his head.

"Why should I?" he hissed back. I realized that he actually had no reason to stay and help us. Considering less than twenty minutes ago he was locked in a cage, he really did have no reason.

"If you help us," piped up Rogers, who was wiping water off his shield.

I had completely forgotten that he was there and I guess so had Loki too, because his head whipped around to look at him.

"I promise that we will make sure S.H.I.E.L.D wont throw you back in jail." Loki looked unconvinced. "And we will tell Thor what you've done and I'm sure he will leave you be if he thinks you're changing for the better." Loki didn't say anything but simply turned and walked away.

"What about Skadi?" He called after him, it was his final attempt at getting him to come back. Loki stopped for a second.

"It doesn't matter, she doesn't remember me." He said before continuing away from us and disappearing into the forest.

"What an asshole." I muttered to myself as I looked back at Rogers, who gave me a smirk.

"You're the one who fell for him." He chuckled. I rolled my eyes, like hell I did.

"By the way, how the hell did you get here?" I asked with more anger in my voice than normal.

"I jumped out of the helicarrier after you. I had almost caught up to you when I watched the glass cage disappear completely in a crevice in the earth, the force of its sudden disappearance sucked you in too." He explained. I was surprised by his response.

"Oh, well thank you Rogers. Even though we've kinda landed in more trouble, I really appreciate it." I said sincerely, giving him a thankful smile. He smiled back.

"Call me Steve."

"Okay, Steve. Do you have any idea how to get out of here because I honestly don't." I admitted.

"Not really, but I'm sure we will figure it out." He said, before placing his shield on his back and walking towards the dense forest. I followed quickly behind him.
