"Ugh I have no friends."

"You have me." Caleb pointed out from the kitchen. I looked over at him from the position I was in, sitting on the couch. I tilted my head at him and a smile crept onto my lips, "I mean girl friends."

I watched him as he walked out of the kitchen with a brown paper bag in hand, "But I thought I was  'one of the girls?'" He asked quoting me from a while ago when I tried to convince Olivia to let Caleb tag along to somewhere. I giggled as he walked towards me, "You are, but I can't talk shit about you to you. It just doesn't work that way."

He stopped walking dead in his tracks to shoot me a surprised face. His jaw had dropped open as he stared at me with wide eyes, "You talk shit about me?!" He questioned in disbelief. My laughter increased from his hurt reaction. I smirked, "Just kidding."

"Yeah you better be, that hurt my feelings."

"You're perfect, don't worry." I assured him while sitting up. I stood on my knees facing the back of the couch. My hands draped over the headrest of the couch as Caleb walked right up to me. His smirking lips found mine and left a chaste kiss on them. He pulled back, "It's okay, I have to get to work anyways."

"I thought you had today off?" I asked confused.

I watched as he shook his head, "I'm on call. They need me in the ER for surgery." He replied. I puffed out my bottom lip and reached up to wrap my arms around his neck, bringing him closer. I let out a childish whine making him chuckle as he hugged me back, "I'll see you tonight?"

I pulled back and nodded, "Guess I'll go grocery shopping then because I have no friends."

"Hey, I love you." He told me. I smiled and pecked his lips one more time, "I love you too."

Strolling down the cookie aisle, it took all of my willpower to not throw every brand of chocolate chip cookies into my cart. It took every ounce I had, but I resisted the urge. I left the aisle and took a sharp turn to the next aisle to grab some chips when the front of my cart collided with a body.

Next thing I new, the person was hunched over in pain, grunting. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry I didn't see you." I quickly apologized. The person lifted up their head, and I was met with the face of none other than Mr. Luke Hemmings.

"You stalking me, freshman?" He commented once he regained his composure.

"No." I replied too quickly. I internally slapped myself from how defensive that sounded. Of course I wasn't stalking him. Maybe vise versa, "You're stalking me." I shot back. I watched his the left corner of his mouth pulled up, tugging his lips into smirk, "Maybe. By the way on a scale of 1-10, 10 being homicidal, how pissed is your hubby still from the wedding?" He wondered.

"He's over it, and he's not my husband yet." I corrected him. I don't know why I felt the need to, but it was sort of concerning. Wouldn't bride-to-bes be already calling her fiancé 'husband?'

"Right, sorry. 'Fiancé.'"

"Yeah..." I said unsure of how to respond. I wanted us to keep talking, but I wasn't sure how far we'd get until our past was brought up. Not that it wasn't a good one because for the time it lasted for, it was amazing. But the way it ended is another story. Our 'break up' was the hardest thing I've ever had to go through.

"How about we get lunch?" He sparked up the conversation again after a few seconds of awkward silence. I looked up at him with risen eyebrows, "Not sure that's a good idea."

"Why not?"

"We used to date."

"So? Doesn't mean we can't be friends."

"I don't know...Caleb won't like it." I tried to convince myself not to go with him. I knew that Caleb wouldn't be happy, but I still wanted to go. Luke gave me a pleading look, "What he doesn't know won't hurt him."

"I can't lie!" I quickly interjected. Luke smiled and it made me smile out of habit.

Damn it.

"Fine, when and where should I meet you?" I gave in.

"Diner down the street at 2, can't wait."

After finishing up the shopping, I came home and put all the stuff away. I quickly got changed and did my makeup and was about to leave when I heard the front door open. Confused, I left the bathroom where I was getting ready and found Caleb heading my way, "Hey, I thought you had a surgery?" I asked as he kissed my forehead gently.

"It got rescheduled. Where ya going?" He asked once looking at my appearance. "Out with a friend." I tried to keep it a vague as possible. If there was a thing I couldn't do: it was lie to Caleb. He sees right through me every time. He smiled at me, "Oh nice! Which friend?" He asked while heading towards the bedroom.

"You don't know her. Friend from college."

He stopped and turned around to look at me skeptically, "Sounds like you had a lot of friends in college." He commented. I nodded and pressed my lips into a line, "Yep." I said popping the p. He tilted his head away from me and squinted his eyes, "Rebecca, are you lying to me?"

Fuck.

I scoffed, "What? No. Why would I be lying to you?" I asked in disbelief. Plan B was to make him feel bad for even doubting me. If I'm able to get that far. He walked in my direction again, "Who are you meeting? And tell me the truth."

"Luke." I blurted and then quickly covered my mouth from the sudden outburst.

"I knew it!" He exclaimed. He headed towards the bedroom and I followed, "Hold on, Caleb. Don't be mad, please. It's just lunch." I tried to make the situation sound a little better. Yes, it did look bad that I was meeting my ex for lunch, but it's not like I plan on doing anything bad.

I watched as he quickly tore off his scrub shirt and replaced it with a plain white one, "I'm not mad."

"Oh, okay. Cool."

"So, when do we leave?"

"Wait, what?"

"I'm coming with you." He smiled at me.
