the pic has no relevancy to the story but i HAD to attach it bc i choked on my own spit when i found it😂😩
I followed as Luke lead me down the all too familiar: Times Square. His much taller body walked about three steps ahead of me, and my small legs struggled to keep up with his pace. I tried catching up to him to walk side by side, but I couldn't. That's when I started to whine, "Luuuuuke." I moaned in an annoying voice. He turned around to look at me through his sunglasses, "What, babe?"
I couldn't help but to smile at his use of the word 'babe.' It brought me back to the good ol' college days.
I loved how Luke could make me feel young again. He made me feel like nothing has changed from seven years ago.
"Slow down, lanky." I said and sped up my legs to finally be able to walk beside him. He chuckled as I felt our hands brush against one another's. He laced our fingers together and glanced down at me for a brief second, "Speed up, stubby." He shot back. I looked up at him with an unamused face and rolled my eyes playfully.
"You like my stubbiness." I tore my eyes away from his and looked forward as we walked. His hand yanked on mine and pulled me over to the side. I landed against a brick wall inside a gap between two buildings. His body pressed up against mine, making me unable to move. His lips were dangerously close to my own as his hot breath made contact with my upper lip as he spoke, "I like a lot of things about you."
I bit my bottom lip right before he closed to gap between our mouths. His soft and warm lips moved with my own so perfectly, it left me breathless and lost for words every time. Every second was bliss, until I remembered we were in public, and people could be watching us violently making out. I gently shoved him off me, earning me a whine in response.
"I don't want to be one of those couples who make out in public." I told him.
"College Rebecca would think otherwise." He leaned in again.
"Well, I'm adult Rebecca now." I pushed him away again.
"You used to love it when I kissed you in the public eye." He winked as a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. I tried to hide the smile that was threatening to creep up, but I kept my composure.
"Used to."
"Ouch."
"I didn't mean it like that, darling. I mean, I am I respected woman now and it's not very classy to my swapping spit with a man in front of hundreds of people." I explained in a proper voice. I tried to sound extremely professional, but it only backfired when Luke started laughing at me.
"Oh yeah I forgot. You've been with a doctor for seven years." He teased. I rose an eyebrow at him and folded my arms across my chest, "It was three. And stop bringing up Caleb, it makes me feel like an awful person." I scolded.
Luke held up his hands in defense, "I'm sorry. If you don't want me to kiss you in public, I won't." He assured me. I smiled and kissed him on the cheek by standing in my tippy toes, "Save it for the bedroom." I whispered in his ear before returning back to the heels of my feet.
After that important speech about me being a well respected woman, Luke ended up taking me to the zoo. Yes, the zoo. Was I complaining?
Nope. I love me some animals.
The crowds were big due to the insanely gorgeous weather we were having this fine, summer day. The zoo visit consisted of Luke having to give me piggy back rides so I could see over the group of people. He was lucky he's already a giant, some people are just blessed with gifts while others have to suffer.
My camera roll was filled with silly selfies with the animals and Luke. Luke finally got to meet with his own kind: the giraffes. It was a great family reunion, and I was so blessed to be able to be apart of it.
It was towards dinner time when we left the zoo hand in hand. I thought we were heading home, but Luke tugged on my hand once we arrived at a restaurant. Not a diner, a restaurant. We walked inside and waited to be seated. Me, being the sly dog that I am, I managed to get away from Luke for a few seconds to tell the hostess that it was Luke's birthday.
Knowing Luke all too well, he would kill me if he heard me tell her, but thankfully he didn't. Hopefully he doesn't get mad when they come out and sing happy birthday to him.
We got shown to a booth, and we went our separate ways to sit on either side of the booth. I glanced at the menu for a little bit before deciding some fancy sounding dish. I sat the menu down in front of me to find Luke staring right at me. I was taken aback at first, but then I felt myself grin goofily, "What?" I asked him.
"Nothing, you're just beautiful; that's all." He commented before looking down at his menu. I felt my cheeks begin to burn as the redness rushed to them. Even after all these years, he could still get me to blush like crazy.
"Are you having a good birthday so far?" I asked him.
He nodded and sat down his menu, "I have you with me, so of course I am."
We ordered our food and made small talk about old memories (that weren't particularly flattering ones on my part) until our dinner came out. I didn't realize how hungry I was until I made direct eye contact with my food. I scarfed that shit down in literally ten minutes. I even reached over the table to steal some one Luke's steak. He only laughed at me as I put it in my mouth.
I'm the biggest pig I've ever known. Am I ashamed? Eh.
I sat back in my chair and groaned once I was done eating everything in sight. I ate so much that Luke would probably have to roll my ass out of here. I thought I wouldn't be able to sneak another bite in because I was so full.
I thought.
Suddenly a group of waiters and waitresses paraded over to our booth with a huge slice of chocolate cake in hand. They were clapping and singing a really loud birthday song, creating a huge scene. As soon as I saw that cake, I was ready for action.
I glanced over at Luke who had his head in his hands, hiding his face. I laughed and reached over to removed his hands from his face. The group of singing servers made it over to our table, and I started clapping along with them as they continued to sing 'happy birthday' to Luke.
His face was priceless.
"Woooooo!" I shouted along with the group at the end of the song, and the rest of the restaurant clapped. Once the servers left, Luke looked up at me through his eyelashes. I knew he was going to be mad at all the attention he was getting from strangers, "You would." Was all he said with a small laugh. I knew he couldn't stay annoyed for long.
I smiled and grabbed a fork and handed it to him before taking one for myself, "I did it for the free cake." I winked.
rebecca is literally me i love food way too much
