tired luke is the cutest thing dont fight me on this

The little bell hanging above the door rang as I stepped foot inside the little coffee shop. Upon entering, I scanned the room to try to locate the small, brunette girl. I haven't seen Olivia since her wedding day, and that was a few weeks ago. It didn't take me long to spot her, and I started walking in her direction.

She looked tan, which I wouldn't expect anything else from a woman who spent the past two weeks in Mexico for her honeymoon. I was about two feet away from her when she turned around to meet me face to face, "Honey bunch!" She exclaimed before throwing out her arms to hug me. I smiled and walked into her embrace.

She was always the best at giving hugs. Maybe even a little better than Luke, and we all know how great of hugs he gives.

"How ya been?" I asked once we pulled away from each other. She slid back into her side of the table, and I did the same to my side. "I'm great. Sex is great. Food is great. Life is great." She grinned from ear to ear. I couldn't help but to mimic her actions and smile at her, "I'm happy for you, Liv."

"But, that's not what I want to talk about," she looked at me while folding her arms and placing her elbows on the table. She leaned in closer to look at me almost as if she were studying my every move. I found it intimidating. "What's going on with you, Rebecca?" She questioned.

I reached for a menu and opened it up to look through it, "Things are...complicated." I said trying to avoid eye contact. I knew upon coming into this that Olivia was going to make my situation with Caleb the focal point. I just hope she doesn't find out the real reason behind us breaking up.

"What do you mean?" I asked just to make sure she was asking about what I think she was. I heard her settle further into her seat, but I didn't look up from my menu. I must have stared at the chicken caesar salad option for a solid minute.

"Last time I saw you, you were all over Caleb at my wedding. Then you're saying you left him because you weren't happy? Is there something I don't know about? Did I miss something?" She wondered. Slowly, I sat down the menu so it laid flat on the table. I flickered my eyes up to meet with hers as I tried to think of a response.

I shrugged, "He's become a dark person lately." I said simply.

I watched as her left eyebrow quickly shot up in confusion, "How so?"

"He's incredibly jealous, and he becomes a nasty person when he is."

"What could he be jealous of?" She wondered. I just adverted my eyes away from here to look in a different direction. My wandering eyes landed on a man walking outside, talking on his cell phone, "I don't know." I lied.

"Was it because of Luke?"

"Why would he be jealous of Luke?" I asked way too quickly. I sounded so defensive, I might have just blew everything.

"Well you two used to date, and Caleb looked pretty mad when you were dancing with him at my wedding." She pointed out.

Maybe I wasn't as discrete as I thought I was.

"He has no reason to be jealous of Luke." I reached for my water and took a sip. I was never a good liar. People always saw right through me.

"Okay..."

There was an uncomfortable silence as I continued to sip on my water. Finally, she spoke again, "So where are you staying?" She asked me.

I responded quickly because I prepared for this question beforehand. I pointed in the direction behind me, "Hotel down the street." I replied.

"Then why did you drive here?" She asked. My heart rate sped up. Shit, that's right. Why would I drive if I was supposedly staying a five minute walk away from here?

"Lazy." I said just above a whisper.

I watched as a smile spread across her face, "Where are you really staying, Becky?" She rose an eyebrow inquisitively. Her smile faded into a smirk as she awaited my response. Do I just come out and tell her the truth? Or do I keep up this lie? I decided to keep the lie going, but she figured it out before I could say anything.

"You're staying with Luke, aren't you?"

"...yeah."

"Rebecca!"

"I don't want to be judged, okay?! Keep your judgment to yourself." I pleaded. I knew all too well Olivia would most likely go in two different directions with this. One being insanely judgmental and the other being very intrusive. And by that, I mean: very inappropriate questions could be heading my way.

"I'm not judging!" She held up her hand defensively. I was going to say something in response, but the waitress came over to take our orders. Once she left, I turned my attention back to Olivia, "You can't tell anyone. Not even Calum." I told her. I tried to sound stern, but I couldn't. It wasn't possible for me to sound intimidating. I lost my 'scariness' in college.

"I won't, promise. So are you two like together or are you just staying there?" She inquired.

"I'm just staying there."

"Liar."

"I'm not lying!"

"Oh, please."

"Nothing is going on." I tried to convince her, but she wasn't buying it. I just hope she could keep her big mouth shut. The last thing I need is for Calum to find out. When Calum knows, the rest of Luke's squad knows. And that's never good.

x.x.x

I ended up coming back to Luke's apartment extremely late. Olivia and I just decided to spend the entire day together like old times. It wasn't every day where we had the opportunity to, so we took it. And it was the best day I've had in years.

I walked down towards Luke's apartment door and opened it up slowly. I was careful not to make too much noise incase I woke Luke up accidentally.

All of that was useless because I noticed him standing in the kitchen wide awake when I walked in. His back was facing me so I couldn't see his face or what he was doing. I closed to door, and he neglected to turn around to face me. So, I said something, "You're still up?" I asked.

Still no answer, I walked up to him and placed a hand in his right shoulder gently, "Luke?" I asked while turning him around. As soon as he did, I was met with his bloodshot eyes surrounded by huge dark circles. He looked fucked. I glanced down and his hands that were holding half a bottle of liquor and a closed bottle of pills.

"Did you take these?!" I yelled at him and snatched the pills from him. He shook his head slowly. He was drunk. I could tell by his disorientation. I yanked the bottle out of his hands next and placed the two toxic objects on the counter, "You said you weren't going to do that again!"

"I thought you left me for good this time." He slurred his words. I smelt the pungent smell of alcohol on his breath as soon as he spoke to me. My heart shattered upon hearing his words. Was he that afraid that I wasn't going to come back?

I reached up to his face and trailed my fingers down his jawline, "Luke, you can't do this every time I'm a little late, okay? I can't lose you." I basically begged him. I knew I would probably have to bring this up again tomorrow when he's sobered up.

"I'm sorry." He mumbled.

I took away my hand from is face and walked over to where I sat the  pills down. I grabbed them, "I'll be in charge of these, okay? I'll give them to you when you need it." I told him. He just nodded causing himself to stumble from the sudden dizziness. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him down to me for a hug, "I don't want you hurting yourself, Luke. You're too good of a person for that."
