what's up mtv and welcome to ruke's new crib
I woke up the same way I fell asleep: cold and alone. For some reason the damn ac unit was unadjustable so the room felt like an ice block all night. The room was only dimly lit from the sun signaling that it was probably early in the morning. I tried snuggling back into my pillow and covered my head with the blankets, but the sound of the room door opening and closing was what forced me awake for good.
I pulled the covers away from my face and sat up with my back against the pillows. I looked up and found Luke walking towards me with a white paper cup in one hand and in the other a brown paper bag. He wore grey sweatpants and a white t shirt. He obviously put minimal effort into his appearance and still looked hot as hell. Me, on the other hand, probably looked like I've been marinating in a ditch for three days.
"Morning." I chirped, hoping he would be in a better mood today. He made it towards me and handed me the white cup and paper bag without saying a word. I took the stuff and glanced back up at him, "Where did you go?" I wondered before looking inside the bag. "Breakfast was from 6-9, and I didn't want to wake you up." He replied while pulling out his phone from one of his front pockets.
"Oh, well thanks." I said before taking a sip of the scorching hot drink that was in the cup. The familiar taste of hot coffee burned my tongue and the roof my my mouth, but I tried to play it cool. On the outside, I was appeared fine but on the inside, I was on fucking fire and I was dying. I sat the cup down on the small table beside the bed and grabbed my phone to look at the time: 9:28 am. That's when I saw the numerous amount of missed calls.
All from Olivia.
"Oh shit." I groaned while kicking off the covers and swinging my legs over the edge of the bed. "What's wrong?" Luke wondered as I stood up. "Olivia called me like ten times last night." I spoke while dialing her number to call her back and see what she was frantically trying to get ahold of me for. I was rudely interrupted by Luke snatching my phone away from me and ending the call before it even had time to start ringing.
"What was that for?" I asked slightly annoyed. I watched as he took my phone and put it in his pocket, "No calls until we change our numbers." He said sternly. I fought the urge to roll my eyes at him, "You know, if you're going to boss me around the very least you can do is be nice about it." I folded my arms over my chest as he stepped closer to me. I looked up into his icy blue eyes as he towered over me, "I'm not bossing you around, Rebecca. I'm making sure you're safe."
"From what? The whole reason we came here in the first place was to be safe."
"Just...don't call anyone until you get a new number. Please." His voice got softer. I let out a sigh and nodded, "Okay, okay. Fine. Can I have my phone back at least?" I held out my hand for him to give the object back to its rightful owner. He pulled out my phone from his pocket and gave it back to me, "Fine. Now get dressed, we leave in ten." He told me before heading towards the front door. I watched him, "Where are you going?" I asked, my voice dripping with confusion.
"Waiting for you in the lobby," he informed me while opening up the door and stepping out into the hall, "Ten minutes." He reminded me before shutting the door leaving me alone in the room.
"Are you shitting me?" I mumbled to myself. I knew he was mad at me, but damn. Was I that repulsive?
I contemplated taking my time with getting ready, but I decided that pissing Luke off more would not be to my benefit. At least not now. I slipped on my sneakers that I wore last night and placed a pair of sunglasses on the top of my head for later use. I felt my phone in my pocket assuring that I wasn't going to forget it, and I was ready to leave.
