"You're mom is gone, Nins," Matt said cautiously. "Don't you remember any of this?"
"Matt, if I remembered it I wouldn't be asking these questions," I whimpered.
I just wanted to go home. To start over with Matt. To act like none of this had ever happened.
"Can we please just go home?" I whispered. He looked at me and sighed.
"If the doctors approve, sure."
He walked out into the hallway and I could see the bags under his tired eyes. He was stressed and I knew I was making it worse, but what was I supposed to do? How could I know what to say when I couldn't even remember what had happened?
"Nina?" The doctor said as she walked in my room.
"Hi," I smiled. "Can I go anytime soon?"
"As soon as you file some paperwork, sure thing. You'll be out of here before you know it. I want you to come back every 2 weeks for a check-up and an MRI, alright?"
I nodded and smiled, acting like everything was okay, even though on the inside my head was drowning. I felt like I had known how to swim all of my life, but then all of a sudden when I got in the water I couldn't do it. I knew how to swim, yet I was drowning.

"And this is the bedroom," He smiled.
"I know where the bedroom is." I remarked as I watched the goofy grin slide of his face into the nowhere. He looked at me for a moment before turning away and walking to the kitchen. Why was it so hard for me to connect to him? I knew him. This was my boyfriend. I was in love with him. Was. What happened?

I was drowning. I knew how to swim, yet I was drowning.
