The kiss changed things.
There was a lot more tension between us. I think we both wanted to figure out what exactly was going on before we talked about it. We didn't want to ruin our friendship like that.
Today was my first day back at work. They decide to give me my job back since I was so good at it before, but I had to go through all the training again.
It was about halfway through my shift when I saw a familiar face walk through the door.
They walked to the counter and gave me a smirk.
"Hey, Nina."
"Hey, Sarah." I replied.
"So I heard you have been spending a lot of time with Matthew." She spat out.
"Um, yeah I guess you could say that." I awkwardly laughed out.
"How far have you guys gone?"
My jaw clenched. "Are you going to order a smoothie or question me about my personal life?" I asked.
"Woah, chill out, honey. I just want you to know that you're no different than all of the other girls. He's gonna go and find someone else in a matter of minutes."
And with that, Blondie walked out of the store. Did she really come here just to tell me that Matt is a douche? Because if so, she's wasting her time.
Matt and I have grown really close over the past few weeks, even if we has just been watching movies and eating pancakes. That was perfect for me. No matter how much I hated Matt at the beginning for thinking he was just some player, I learned that he was much more than that.

I walked into my apartment to see Matt asleep on my couch. I smiled at the sight of his mouth slightly open and his loud breathing.
"Maaaatt," I said quietly. I walked over and sat myself on the ground in front of him.
"Matt, I'm home." I smiled.
"Go away," He mumbled groggily.
"Dude, this is my apartment."
"And I'm sleeping in it."
I rolled my eyes and walked to my bedroom. I stripped out of my work uniform and put on a pair of leggings and a purple tank top. I threw my hair in a low ponytail and walked out.
When I got to the living room, Matt was finally up. He was sitting on his phone, oblivious to the fact that I was even there.
"Hey there, sleepyhead." I said. He looked up at me and smiled.
"Hey, I was waiting for you to get home and I guess I fell asleep."
"That's fine. How was your day?" I asked, sitting down on the couch.
"Pretty boring without you, actually." He smirked. "I didn't have anyone to binge watch Disney movies with."
"Yeah, I know you really missed that, didn't you?" I giggled.
"I did. Really." He said seriously. I gently smiled and looked away, trying to avoid the awkwardness.
"Matt, can I ask you a question?" I asked.
"You can ask me anything." He said throwing his arms out wide.
"Why do you sleep with so many girls?"
He sat there and looked as if he was really contemplating his answer.
"I dunno. I guess I'm just trying to fill the void."
"What void?" I asked, cocking my head to the side.
"The void of not having anyone who cares for you."
This time it was me who was contemplating their answer.
"I think that voids are inevitable. You can't try and fill them by putting girls who you will never love in that place. You have to try and find someone who really loves you for you." I replied.
"But you don't understand. When I feel depressed or something, that's what I want. I want someone to be there for me. That's when a bunch of random girls come into my bedroom and I can keep my mind off things. It's just easier." He said.
"Matt," I said grabbing his hands in mine. "What you need to realize is that even if everyone on this planet hates you, I never will. Ever. You can always come to me. Don't think that sleeping with someone is the answer to your problems."
He didn't even have to respond because I could see how he felt. His eyes were now sad and droopy. He wrapped his arms around my shoulders and pulled me into a hug. I rested my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes.
Eventually I pulled away and looked at him. We had begun another one of our staring contests, but once I remembered how that ended I spoke up.
"Sarah came into the store today."
When I said this his eyes widened and he pulled back.
"What? What did she say to you? Why was she there?"
"Well at first I thought she was there to get a smoothie, but then I realized she was there to 'warn me about you'." I replied. He shook his head.
"She's such a bitch."
"I know. But it's okay. She's gonna leave us both alone, right?"
he sighed and looked at me.
"Hopefully."
