"Hello!"

Orm read the text message she received, causing her to furrow her brow.

It was the 20th century, so she didn't realize people still sent text messages. Usually, whenever she needed to contact someone, a Facebook chat sufficed, and since that was free of data charges, a messenger chat is her top most option. Furthermore, none of her friends were fond of texting, so she wondered who the idiot that was texting her.

It had been two days since her sibling's surgery and subsequent recovery of consciousness, for those two days, she had been keeping watch at the hospital, helping to monitor her sibling's condition and attending to his needs without pause, she was just too tired but she knew they were helpless too so she just went autopilot.

She had also been enduring body aches that she tried to manage with ibuprofen, but the two days spent contorting herself on the small chair beside her sibling's bed whenever she tried to sleep seemed to have only made her discomfort worse.

So, when Susi finally had the free time yesterday to go to the hospital and take over the watch, she thanked the Lord with all her heart.

"You should be thanking me, you idiot, not the Lord. No angel whispered in my ear to come here. I came on my own initiative." Susi smacked her.

"Obviously. Nothing but demons or dicks ever enter your holes," Orm chimed in, laughing at her friend.

"You crazy bitch, if you didn't look like Chucky right now, I'd fight you. Girl, if you've got spare cash, get that bird's nest on your head rebonded!"

"Moron! Did I complain when I smell hell itself steaming from your feet?" She shot back, and the two quickly fell back into their easy shit talking. They were just like that ever since.

Afterwards, Orm gave her friend a rundown of the dos and don'ts regarding Utt. She might have stayed even longer if her friend hadn't practically kicked her out the door.

At home, Orm missed lying down like a normal person terribly. Even though the only thing she was on was an old mattress, the moment her back touched that thin cushion made her felt like she was on a five star hotel cozying on a King size bed. It was enough to make her incredibly happy.

It was no wonder, then, that she slept soundly, completely dead to the world for nearly twelve hours. She slept like a baby, that when she woke up, she felt energized.

Her idle moment was interrupted only when her cellphone rang, signaling that text message.

She initially thought it was just another promo from her mobile network or an invitation to online gambling ads, its just so prevalent nowadays but the possibility that it might be an update from the doctor made her quickly grab the phone quickly, only to find a simple "hello" from an unknown number.

Like a normal person, she ignored it.

"Hello, it's me, I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet..." she sang while tying up her hair after getting out of bed.

For all she knew, it might have just been a message sent to the wrong number. So, she went on with her day, starting by simply frying an egg for breakfast. Later, she planned to visit the hospital to bring food for Susi, as her brother was still on a strict diet. The doctor had mentioned that since Utt was young and energetic, he might be discharged in a day or two to continue his recovery at home.

She energetically cleaned the house and did the laundry. A pile of dirty dishes had also accumulated in the sink, so Orm decided to wash them as well to keep cockroaches away. She was so engrossed in her chores that when she finally sat down and checked her phone, her eyes nearly popped out at what she saw.
