*Lauren's POV*
We drive around for a bit searching for somewhere to eat with Camila's play list playing softly in the background. We don't talk much but it's not awkward. I lean my head slightly out of the open window and let the crisp fall air hit my face.
"I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" by Elvis comes on and I turn my head and Camila is fumbling with her phone to try and turn the phone off.
"Sorry." She mumbles.
"But I can't help..." I sing softly, looking back out the window. Camila places her phone down and turns towards me briefly before returning her gaze to the road.
"Falling in love with you" she sings louder, our eyes meeting for a moment.
"Like a river flows surely to the sea..." I sing. "Darling so it goes."
"Some things are meant to be take my hand take my whole life too" she sings.
"For I can't help falling in love with you" we sing in unison, our heads bobbing.
"I love this song" I say throwing my head back on the seat.
"Hey you have a pretty good voice." Camila says. I and everybody else know about her voice. Her Ally, Dinah, and Normani have always been the three best singers in the school Performing The national anthem at every local event and always having solos at concerts. They haven't done much lately which is a shame because they really do have beautiful voices.
"Thanks" I laugh. "Your playlist is so warped. It goes from One Direction to Kanye to Elvis" I laugh, changing the subject.
"So I've been told" she chuckles. "I don't know I just really love that song. It's so short and romantic and it always makes me really happy. I thought you'd think I was some sort of nerd when you heard it-"
"You're an old soul" I interrupt.
"Just like me with the Great Gatsby, we've learned things from our past incarnations and not only do we have interests in things like Elvis and classic novels," I laugh "we're wise beyond our years" I continue.
"Where'd you hear about all this 'old soul' stuff anyways?" She asks.
"I read... Too much." I giggle.
"That was really poetic though." She says sincerely.
"I told you I read a lot!" I reiterate.
"No. That was all you. Have you ever tried writing?" She says. Memories flash of the stories I've written about magical worlds where everything is perfect. I always used it as an escape from reality but I would be mortified if anyone say anything I wrote. It's not that it's bad, it's just personal.

"Yeah I guess" I say bashfully.

"It wouldn't surprise me. You have a way with words, Jauregui." She says reaching over and tapping my nose causing me to smile.

"What about you? And your voice! You have the most beautiful voice I have ever heard" I say, slightly uncomfortable with the attention being on me and my talents.

"Thanks. I wish I could do more with it." She says.

"Why can't you?" I ask, concerned.

"I don't really feel good singing without Dinah, Ally, and Normani. We discovered singing together and our voices kinda feel like one. They're done with it which is a shame because they have really good voices." She answers.

"I'll tell you what, maybe you can work on your singing this year and I can work on my writing and we can try to get into one of those art schools in the city together." I say literally feeling the lightbulb over my head. That would be amazing. Camila and I in the city, going to school, living in a cute apartment or dorm and we definitely wouldn't be the only gay people there.

"Deal." She says placing her hand on her thigh. I place mine on top and she smiles at me and continues to drive.
