Chapter 43

*Camila's POV*

School drags on and on and before I know it, it's been 2 months since Lauren and I have been dating. Yes, to the day. I remember vividly on September 15 when she got into the car accident and we made it official. I don't think she's as crazy as I am to remember the exact day but it's not like she had been craving me for years. For a while, I debate whether or not I should pretend that November the 15 is not a significant date or whether I should go all out and as soon as I think I'm gonna play it off and pretend I'm not madly in love, I find myself making a detour to the drugstore and buying her roses, and chocolates. I scan the car section labeled "anniversary" and see mostly pictures and messages depicting heterosexual couples. The typical little boy and girl kissing or in oversized wedding costumes etcetera etcetera but then my eyes fall on a hopefully gender neutral card with an old black and white picture that reads "I can't help falling in love with you" and I feel my heart about to fly out of my chest. Even though card manufacturers are mostly heteronormative, they sure did something right. I pick it up and read the inside with "Happy anniversary" written in the same thin black script on the cover and throw my head back with a smile. I close my eyes and remember goofing off and singing with her in the car and discussing our future. When I realize that people are probably looking at me funny, I snap out of it and proceed to check out. I go with white roses and a white heart box with a black silk ribbon wrapped around containing a mix of white chocolates, black and white to signify our old souls. I get in the front seat of my car and take out the card and a pen and begin to write:

"'Darling so it goes some things are meant to be' love, Yours always, Camz" 

I scribble a little heart at the bottom of the card and then seal it in the envelope. I rush to school, not wanting her two walk in alone, Thinking how I'm going to go about this.

I pull up next to Lauren's car and run out as I see her heading toward the school building. 

"Lauren!" I shout. She whips around and then begins to jog toward me. We meet in the middle and hug.

"Come to my car" I say with a smile.

"What? Why?" She says.

"C'mon" I chirp holding out my hand which she grabs and I then lead her to the car. 

"Stay here and close your eyes" I say positioning her in front of the car.

"I'm scared, Camz" She laughs.

"Shhh don't be" I say as I reach into the back seat and retrieve the roses, card, and chocolates.

"Ok... open!" I say when I finally get in front of her holding the flowers in one hand and the chocolates and card in the other with my arms open ready to accept the kiss she's going to give me for being the best girlfriend in the world.

"Ahh! Camila!" She says as she leaps into my arms and plants a kiss on my cheek.

"What's this for?" She questions.

"I figured you wouldn't know" I laugh. "We've been together for 2 months" I say.

"How do you know?" She giggles taking the roses up to her nose and breathing in their aroma.

"Because I know everything."

"Why is two months so significant? You didn't do this last month." she jokes.

"Well I felt like finding an excuse to sporadically spoil my girl." I say. She pinches my cheeks.

"You're so cute." she says in her squeaky little kid voice.

"duh" I joke rolling my eyes and she places the gifts on top of her car and kisses me.

we're too into it to notice that Ally, Dinah and Normani have been hiding behind my car but we notice when Ally comes up behind us and says:

"Chocolate? Roses? Really? You don't have be so romantic you know!" 

Lauren jumps back thinking its someone else but sighs with relief when she sees that it's just the girls. 

"You never buy me cute stuff on my birthday" Dinah scoffs sarcastically.

"1) you're not my girlfriend and 2) it's not even her birthday" I say with a smile.

"Wait so why did you do all this?" Normani asks.

"YOU'RE GONNA YELL AT ME FOR BEING TOO ROMANTIC!" I yell.

"Don't. Tell. Them." I turn to Lauren who can't keep a straight face. 

"IT'S OUR 2 MONTH ANNIVER-" she starts but I cover her mouth.

"Lo!!!" I laugh.

"Wait you did this... for two months? I think I'm gonna be sick. You cute couples and your "monthiversarries" and your chocolates and roses" Dinah makes a barfing sound.

"You're just jealous!" I taunt my best friend causing her to come over and put me in a light headlock.

"I ain't jealous of shit" She laughs. All the rest of the girls laugh and carry on and then we realize that the dreaded first bell is going to ring and start to walk to the school. I kiss Lauren goodbye and say goodbye to our friends and carry on the rest of the day.

A/N: Sorry for not updating in a while and sorry for skipping 2 months in the story lol but i don't have two many more plans for this book and i have sososososo many for the sequel! xoxo
