I pull up in front of Logan’s huge mansion and quickly run down the driveway while the car’s engine is still running. I know Logan wouldn’t have had the presence of mind to call his mum. She needs to be there with Ryder.

I pound on the huge double door with all of my strength, shouting out for Sarah.

An eternity later, Sarah opens the door, looking a little irked. The moment she takes in my appearance though, she gets tensed.

“What’s going on Faye?” she demands, grabbing onto my shoulders.

“Sarah! You have to come with me! It’s Ryder! He’s in the hospital!” I manage to choke out as I grab onto her arm. I drag her along with me as I try my best not to full out sprint to the car. However a big of a jerk Ryder can be, he’s still like family to me! And right now, he’s probably in the hospital being checked out, he’d be afraid and too damn stubborn to admit that he would want his mother by his side.

“What?! Why?! Is he alright?!” Sarah demands, when it finally sinks in. By this time the both of us are in the car and I’m backing out.

“It was his game today. And the other team singled him out! And they kept tackling him!” I explain, getting a little flustered.

“Calm down, Faye,” Sarah murmurs, resting a hand on my shoulder.

I nod my head jerkily and take a deep breath. “The captain of the other team ran right into him. And I think his spiked boots must have cut into Ryder’s leg, at least a little! The medic think Ryder fractured his tibia or something. But he was in so much pain!” I moan.

Sarah pales beside me. I notice her eyes get all misty and I just press on the gas. I need to get her to the hospital as soon as possible.

“This is all my fault!” Sarah finally chokes out, her voice thick with her silent sobs.

“No! No it isn’t!” I assure her fiercely, giving her hand a tight squeeze. “It’s that stupid other captain’s fault! I feel like teaching him a lesson!” I hiss softly.

“I should have been at his game! I was just so tired! And the only game I don’t watch is the one where he gets hurt!” she moans.

“It’s okay Sarah! It’s going to be okay,” I soothe softly, pulling into the hospital parking lot.

I hastily park the mustang crookedly, taking up two lots. I’ll come back and adjust it in a while. I need to make sure he’s not in pain for now.

Sarah and I dash into the hospital, looking around frantically for Ryder. I don’t know why, but I expected everything to be in uproar in the hospital. Instead everything is so calm, lethargic almost. Sarah and I bursting in seems to be the only signs of panic.

Sarah dashes towards the information counter. In a moment she’s running to the elevator. I chase after her and I get in just as the doors are about to close. She must have forgotten she came with me.

We stop on the fourth floor and quickly head down the corridor.

               “Which room?” I ask softly.

“415,” she answers, still looking tensed.

We round the next corner only to find Logan pacing about.

“Lolo!” I exclaim, running towards him and jumping into his ready embrace. He holds me tight and I feel him relax a little. Poor Logan, he must be so worried!
