Once I finish telling Ryder my story I go back to staring out the window broodingly. We were almost at Matt’s place now and all the pain I felt a month back has returned. I need Logan here with me!

I pull out my cell phone and quickly dial his number. Logan picks after just two rings. “What’s up Faye?” he asks curiously.

“I just needed to hear your voice,” I whisper, closing my eyes. I’d dealt with the whole Matt issue. But for some reason talking to Ryder and recounting the entire story...it’s pulled me down again.

“What’s wrong Faye?” he demands, immediately on protective mode.

“Nothing really. I just feel down and I wish you were here,” I admit, smiling slightly.

“I can come pick you up if you want? We can have another movie night or something,” he suggests hopefully. Logan must be so bored. He’s all alone at home on a Friday night, not exactly the ideal way to spend it, huh?

“We aren’t even at Matt’s place yet,” I mumble sourly. “I’ll be fine. Love you Lolo,” I whisper, feeling better already.

“Love you too Faye,” he murmurs back, disconnecting the call.

Ryder throws me a funny look before sighing and pulling over a few houses away from Matt’s. There are tons of cars on either side of the road, it must be a massive party!

“Ready?” Ryder asks, getting out of his car.

“Yeah,” I mumble, climbing out and adjusting my dress. I think I should have just worn a pair of jeans and a blouse! What if I’m the only one who looks like a desperado?

“You okay?” Ryder asks, still sounding bored. He holds a hand out for me though. I shake my head at him coldly and lead the way to Matt’s driveway.

“We’re supposed to be dating, Faye. If you storm off, people will know we’re lying,” he warns me quietly, wrapping an arm around my waist.

I flinch a little from his touch and he immediately retreats. I may be imagining it but he looks a little hurt. He must be so used to people fawning over him that he can’t take a cold shoulder.

“Doesn’t matter, man-whore. The moment you walk in there and open your mouth, my life is over anyway,” I mutter savagely.

Ryder smirks a little and allows me to lead. He remains perfectly calm, a small smile tugging at the sides of his lip. “Before you go in though,” he murmurs, taking a step towards me and running his hands through my hair. He then wipes his finger along my lips gently and smiles at me.

“What the hell?” I demand angrily.

“Now you look hot,” he comments, shrugging a little.

I feel myself blush in embarrassment. I tried to look hot but no matter what I do it doesn’t work! I shake my head a little and continue towards Matt’s open door.

The moment we step into the house though, he rests his hand on the small of my back affectionately. He remains close to me and smiles amicably to everyone and I’m confused as hell.

“Faye!” Matt calls, pushing to the crowd to get to me. He pulls me into a long hug. He then holds me at arm’s length to assess me. “You look beautiful,” he murmurs, his eyes raking over my legs.
