“Miss?” a tentative voice floats towards me from far away.

“Hmm?” I murmur, half hoping it’s a dream. I really, really don’t want to open my eyes right now!

“Miss? You have to wake up miss. We’re at the last stop,” the voice informs me.

Last stop? Where am I?

And then everything comes crashing back to me. I got on the bus this morning, having nowhere else to go. My God! I must have fallen asleep.

My eyes shoot open and I nearly cry when I realise how dark it is outside.

“Are you okay miss?” a young guy asks, watching me worriedly.

“Yeah,” I squeak on the verge of crying. “Where are we?”

“Edison Street?” the guy murmurs looking like he didn’t really know what to do.

“Edison Street? Are we  still in Norton?”

“Nope,” the guy mumbles. “Where are you from? Do your parents know where you are?”

“I’m from Norton,” I mumble. Crap! Edison Street? The only Edison Street I know is Kenway. That’s like forever away! I’m so screwed.

“Will you be okay on your own?” the guy asks again.

“Yeah. Totally,” I lie, getting up shakily.

“I’m Max by the way,” he introduces, holding his hand out for me.

“Faye,” I mumble embarrassedly. Gosh! Who falls asleep in the bus and ends up ages away from their home?!

Max and I get off the bus and I sigh in relief when I realise it’s only six in the evening. It’s really dark and it looks like it’s going to rain, but at least it’s only six. I know dodgy things happen in Edison Street at nights.

“So, do you have family here?” Max asks conversationally.

“Umm. Yeah. Totally. I’m just heading there now,” I mumble. I don’t know who this guy is. He was nice and all, but for all I know, he could be some kind of psycho!

“Where exactly? Maybe we’re heading in the same direction?”

“Oh, umm, I don’t really know the names of the streets,” I mumble, shrugging. I’m trying to be as calm as possible.

I can’t decide whether I’d rather be alone or would I prefer Max’s company. “Excuse me a moment,” I whisper, stepping away from him.

I pull out my cell, thanking god that I was maps downloaded on my phone. I bet I can find a taxi stand. The taxi fair to get back home will be crazy though! Hmm, maybe Logan could help me out? I would totally pay him back of course.

I slide my phone open and cringe when I see that I have 18 missed calls from Logan. How the hell did I not wake up?!

I gingerly hit the call button and wait for Logan to answer his cell.

“Faye! I was so worried!” Logan breathes, sounding on the verge of a panic attack.

“Hey. I’m so sorry. I fell asleep and I only just woke up,” I explain.
