We ended up heading back to Logan’s place to watch a movie. We had actually tried heading to my place first, but since there was a car I didn’t recognise parked in the driveway, we assumed my mum would be busy. So yeah, definitely Logan’s place. Not like either one of us are complaining.
Logan’s home has this special indoor movie theatre with surround sound a bazillion inch screen! The best part is that they actually have this genuine, old-school popcorn maker!
“No horror movie this time,” I warn Logan as we walk into his house.
He gives me his puppy dog eyes, and just as I’m about to cave, he gives up. “Fine, since you had such a crappy day at school, you can choose the movie.”
I grin smugly and dump my bag on the living room chair. Logan’s house is like my house. And I know I probably shouldn’t be leaving my things around...but hey, that’s just what we do!
“Do you want a pizza?” Logan calls, heading to the kitchen.
“No. Let’s change it up a lil! I’ll order Chinese! Dinner is on me, kay?” I offer.
“No way! Faye, I’ll pay,” Logan murmurs strictly.
“Lolo, you have to stop doing this,” I mutter as I hop onto the table, watching him ransack the fridge. Someone’s starving!
“Stop doing what?” he asks with a Mars Bar sticking out of his mouth. He walks over to where I’m perched and leans his elbows on my thighs, so we’re face to face.
Great. Here we go again. “You have to stop paying for everything. I feel like a loafer. We hang out at your place all the time. When we go out, you pay for everything. We’re best friends Lolo! Both of us should pay,” I mumble for the thousandth time.
Logan just rolls his eyes and dismisses my argument with a shrug. “It’s not a big deal, Faye. We both know my allowance is big. I can’t possibly spend it all on myself. Besides, I like paying for you. It doesn’t mean that I’m the one in control of our friendship,” he reasons logically.
He’s right of course. That and he knows financially, I could never match him. Logan’s generous by nature. But sometimes I feel like I’m exploiting him.
“Forget it Faye. We always end up arguing about this. Let’s just go watch the movie,” Logan suggests, lifting me off the counter and setting me on my feet.
I sigh irritably and take his hand, leading him downstairs to the theatre. Logan hits the lights as I start the movie. He comes over to me and the both of us snuggle up under the huge blanket as the opening music of The Lord of the Rings plays. This is Logan and my all time favourite show! Hello, no movie could ever beat this!
Just as the Fellowship of the Ring is about to be formed, the theatre door bangs open, sending a bright shaft of light into the room.
I throw a quick glance towards the door and roll my eyes in annoyance. Naturally, the only way an evening watching Lord of the Rings could be ruined is by Ryder entering the room. How I hate that prick!
“Oops! Occupied!” a high bimboesque voice announces, giggling.
I notice Logan’s eyes tighten ever so slightly and I suddenly remember that he and Ryder had a rather unpleasant encounter yesterday.
“Babe, this is my house as much as it is my little brother’s,” comes Ryder’s arrogant voice.
I groan quietly to myself, once again rolling my eyes.
