You know what?
I’ve decided, I’m not going to have two sons. Nope. Never.
A boy and a girl maybe. That way at least my kids and their lovers or whatever never need to deal with what I’m dealing with.
But I still don’t know who to trust.
I guess there’s only one thing I can do.
I walk back into the house and knock on Lo’s door. Before he can open it, I knock on Ryder’s door and stand in the middle of the corridor.
Logan gets his door first. The moment he sees me, he smiles.
“I knew you’d believe me!” he says. “And I’m sorry my brother is such a-“
But he stops short the moment Ryder’s door open.
“What the hell?” Lo asks, turning on me.
Ryder merely stands in his doorway, his arms crossed.
“Boys, I’m calling a meeting. Come on,” I mutter as I head off down the stairs and to the kitchen.
I don’t turn around, but I’m sure the both of them will follow me. If not for my sake, then for their own pride.
Boys! So easy to manipulate!
Minutes later, the three of us are sitting at the dining table, a tensed silence going on.
“Okay. So both of you are telling me completely different stories. And you know what they say, the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle. So let’s talk this out like rational adults, shall we?” I suggest.
“Fine with me. I’m not the drama king,” Ryder mutters, glaring at Lo.
Lo clenches his fist on the table. “At least I don’t cheat!”
“Yeah. You just get cheated on. A much better option, I’m sure?” Ryder challenges.
“Guys!” I mutter. “My turn to talk!”
Ryder hols his hands up. “The floor is all yours, babe.”
“Thank you,” I say. “Right. So according to Lo, Ryder and Meg were making out in the theatre. According to Ryder, Meg and he were just goofing around. Lo, are you sure they were making out?” I ask.
Logan rolls his eyes. “I told you. I saw them with my own eyes, Faye! I don’t get why it’s taking you so long to believe me! You know as well as I do that Ryder is a two-timing bastard! Why can’t you see that?!”
Ryder just smirks and shoots his brother the finger.
“Ryder?” I whisper.
He sighs. “Like I said, Megs and I were just goofing around. We never made out. But we also weren’t able to explain ourselves because the drama king wouldn’t hear reason.”
“Drama king?” Logan scoffs under his breath.
God! It’s like dealing with kids!
“Okay boys, here’s what I’m doing, I’m going to walk the middle path. I believe the both of you to a certain extent. And I just want everything calm, okay? The both of you are stressing me out!” I huff.
“Middle path? What is that supposed to mean?” Logan demands.
“It means I believe both of you-”
