Dear Vivian,
I will never meet you, not as you are growing up. I am sorry that you grew up without a mother. I am a terrible mother, but I just cannot. I love your father, I always will, but it isn't me. It's someone else. He's blackmailing me. Oh, Vivian! You have every right to ignore and hate forever. But if you happen to read this letter, just know that even though I have never met you, and you, I, I know that you are the most beautiful, clever and talented girl. I love you very much, dear. I hope to meet you someday.Love,
Your loving mother,
CoralTears streamed down my face and drenched the precious note. She loved me. She loved me. Even though she has never met me. She still thinks that I'm beautiful though she has never met me. She loves Dad. She loves me. I love her. She is my mother. I wiped away the stream of tears and dried my face.
I glanced at the clock. Only two hours left! I screamed in my head. I fumbled for the makeup, then realize that I should put the dress on first.
I removed the dress from the cover quickly and stared at it in amazement. How could a dress be so complex and intricate, yet so simple? It was perfect! I undressed and threw my clothes to a side. I slipped the delicate dress over my head and it fit perfectly. The dress was just right, showing of my curves and just enough bosom. The white color contrasted with my slightly tanned skin, the ideal color. Best of all, it was not too tight because there was a slit starting from my lower thigh to the ground. The material was soft a silk and extremely comfortable. I sat down on the cushioned chair and thought about how to do my hair.
A neat plait? Nah. Let it down? Hm.....no, I already did that yesterday. A small plait? No, that's weird. A bun? Yes! That's it! And elegant bun was the perfect thing to complete my look.
I walked to the bag and took out the crystal hair clasp from Mdm Tuppence. Next to the hair clasp hung a small bag threat contained brown and auburn pins, nets and rubber bands for any hairdo that I wanted to do. I took that too.
I sat down at the table and used a hairbrush to brush through my hair. Once my hair was as soft as snow, and there were no more knots, I tied my hair into a neat, high ponytail. I would it into an elegant swirl, piling my hair in curls, one on top of the other. I took one of the auburn pins from the bag and placed it in my bun. It blended in well. Thank goodness Mdm Tuppence had given me auburn and brown pins! I placed the rest of the brown and auburn pins into my up do to hold it firmly in place. I shook my head from side to side to see if my updo would unravel. It didn't. Good. Now, I can get started on the makeup.
I searched the table for the foundation, and found it in a blue box. Picking up the foundation, I applied it on four spots on my face. Forehead, cheeks and chin. I spread the foundation out and put some on my neck to balance out the complexion. Once I had checked my face in every angle of the mirror, I was finally satisfied with my look. I extracted the powder puff and dabbed some powder onto it. I moved the powder puff all over my face, the powder dusting over my face. Looking into the mirror, I contemplated what to do next. Eye shadow might look too elaborate on my face with a simple dress on. But eyeliner would be good, with a bit of blusher and bronzer to enhance the look, and red lipstick to make it more noticeable. I used a think brush to spread one dab of blusher over my cheekbones, so I wouldn't look so pale. I picked up the eyeliner brush and began to draw carefully. Over the bottom of the eyelid, into a tiny wing at the side, and then halfway below the eye. There, one eye done. I tried to use the same strength on my right eye as my left eye, because I'm left-handed. It took me ages to perfect the eyeliner and make it equal. I checked the clock. Fifteen minutes left!
"I'm done!" Amelia's voice echoed from outside. "Me too!" Kelly's voice followed. "Almost! Just a second...I'm done!" Alice shouted from the other side. I frantically checked my face in the mirror. I should be done...Wait! The bronzer and lipstick! I frantically contoured my nose with the bronzer, and painted the lipstick onto my lips. I inspected myself hurriedly and ran to the bag, careful not to rip my dress or mess up my hair. I slipped the bracelets onto my wrist and admired the hummingbird.
"Vivian! Are you nearly done?" Amelia shouted from outside. "Nearly!" I replied. I stepped into the white pumps and checked myself in the floor-length mirror. Done.
I dumped my car keys, purse and lipstick I brought from home into my white Hermez bag. Five minutes! I checked myself in the mirror one last time, then stepped out of the room. The first thing that hit me was that I was so dull.
The other girls were wearing beautiful and colorful dresses.
Amelia was wearing a dark red dress with patterns of black interlocking chains along the dress. It had two slits at the sides, from the thigh to the floor. She was also wearing sandal heels, and her hair was in a messy updo. She had only applied powder and eyeliner expertly. Two black bracelets were on her wrists.
Kelly was wearing a beige colored dress with blue patterns in lace sewn all over her dress. It was long sleeved and her hair was pinned up on her head. She, on the other hand, wore hardly any makeup, just powder and blusher. She wore no jewelry and simple blue flats. She probably wanted to keep it simple.
Alice, well, she looked......Alice. She was wearing a beautiful light pink dress, with black flowers embroided on one side. Her dark brown hair was curled to one side, draped over her shoulder. Her hairline was slightly to the left, and she wore heavy eyeliner, black eyeshadow and blood-red lipstick. She had on a pair of beige stilettos.
"You guys look...Wow!" I exclaimed in disbelief. They didn't reply. I stared at them curiously an realized that they were gawking at me. "Is my outfit that bad?" I asked sheepishly. Kelly regained her senses first. "You look amazing!" She shouted. Alice nodded in agreement, while Amelia stood stock-still, still drooling over my look.
I blushed and thanked them. "Well, let's get into the car!" Kelly whooped. We grubbed and hurried to Amelia's grey Audi. As I stepped into the car, I remembered,"Oh! I forgot my phone! You guys go first, I'll meet you there! Hurry, or you'll be late!" Amelia asked,"You sure?" I nodded and she handed me the hose keys,"Remember to lock the doors!" I thanked her and rushed into the house just as the car zoomed off into the streets.
