Jordan:
"Daddy, what if no one speaks to me?" Sienna cowers into my side as I kneel beside her encouraging her to go into kindergarten. Both Rebecca and I have taken the morning off to make sure Sienna goes in on her first day.
"Honey you'll have Elise with you, and I'm sure many others will talk to you" I rub her back to try and calm her down. I see Rebecca smile at someone and I turn around to see Evelynn walking up to us holding Elise's hand.
"Having trouble?" Evelynn asks and Rebecca sighs.
"A little. She hasn't cried yet but she won't let go of Jordan's jacket" I hear Rebecca reply as Elise stands in front of me and Sienna.
"Don't be sad Sienna, we get to draw pictures and play all day" she grins and I feel Sienna loosen her grip.
"Will you stay with me?" Sienna asks her and on impulse I kiss the crown of her head.
"Yeah, who am I going to play princess with?" Elise replies and Sienna finally giggles for the first time this morning. Sienna moves away from me and holds Elise's hand."Mummy, are we going in now?" She asks Rebecca who snaps out of her conversation.
"One minute sweety let us get a few photos" she grins and pulls her phone out. Sienna and Elise stand next to each other still holding hands and grin at Rebecca who takes a few photos. Evelynn being bold as ever swoops in and snatches Rebecca's phone.
"Family photo" she grins and takes Elise's hand pulling her out of her way. Rebecca and I kneel either side of Sienna and smile. Rebecca dressed Sienna in a pair of jeans and a butterfly tshirt with a pink cardigan and black ballet slippers. Her hair is pulled back into a long fishtail braid with a pink bow tying her hair together. She looks adorable, and right now I feel so proud to kneel beside her smiling the biggest smile. After Rebecca takes a photo of Evelynn with Elise we watch as our little girls walk in with their teacher and fellow students hand in hand. I have a feeling they will be inseparable. Rebecca decides to go with Evelynn to work so we share a quick kiss goodbye before we go our separate ways."We don't have twenty four hours this needs to be done today!" I shout at my head of finance and administration.
"But Mr. Matthew's we-"
"No. I don't give a shit about your excuses, own up to the fact that you got your figures wrong and four hundred of my employees have been underpaid. You and your team need to get your shit together by six o'clock tonight. You've got five hours to have it sorted and the figures for each employee sent to payroll for the money to be added onto their next wage slip. Am I clear?" I say through my teeth in an attempt to control my temper.
"Yes sir, I understand" Brian stutters and makes a quick escape. I exhale a big sigh and run my hand through my hair for the sixth time in the past ten minutes. I make a deal with myself to fire him if the job isn't done. It's seven o'clock and I'm finally making my way home. The problem got solved by five forty five this evening so no one was out of a job and all my employees will be satisfied when they receive my email informing them their missing money will be in next months pay check. Mason drives in silence the entire journey; probably sensing that I'm not in the mood to talk. I enter the great room and I see Rebecca sitting at the kitchen island reading a book. Mason goes off into his office and I make my way over to my girl like a man on a mission.
"Where's Sienna?" I ask as I stalk towards her. She stands up with a smile on her face.
"Hope came by and she's giving her a ba-" I cut her off with my lips as they collide with hers. She stills for a second but soon her body moulds with mine and her hands shoot up into my hair. I can't get enough of her.
"I need you" I breathe against her lips with our foreheads touching.
"Later, your sister is here, and I need to talk to you" she says and I pull away fully to look deep into her eyes. The lust that was in them a moment ago fades and is replaced by a look of fear.
"Becca what is it?" I ask her and the tears fill her eyes.
"Baby talk to me what's happened?" I beg and she takes a shaky breath.
"A woman came to my work today, and told me I'm just another number. Jordan what did she mean?"And just when I thought today couldn't get much worse, God decides to throw the bowling ball and knock down my last pin...
