Rebecca:
The second I told Jordan about this woman his whole body language became stiff. His eyes widened and his fists clenched by his sides.
"So? Who is she, Jordan?" I demand, suddenly feeling angry by his lack of response.
"If it's who I think she is, her name is Bianca" he tells me and his answer infuriates me even more.
"Oh yes, sorry I forgot how many women you've screwed" I spit out at him and he visibly flinches. I can see him cowering into his body, as if he just wants to curl up into a ball.
"Becca I- she..." He runs his hands through his hair as he tries to find the right words.
"Yes she was one of them, and she was the only one who wanted more" he informs me."She wanted more? Did you give her more?"
"No of course I didn't! You know that before you I never wanted a relationship. After a month of... She started asking to see me more, wanted me to take her out for dinner and things like that. That's not me-.. That wasn't me" he explains but all I see is red.
"Do you have any idea how humiliating it was to have her barge into my office and demand how I got my hooks into you. She made me feel two feet tall and started insulting me, listing everything that was wrong with me and that I must be offering you something you can't refuse" I explode and I know my face is becoming red.
"Rebecca I don't know what else to say, you know what my past is and I can't change that. I'm trying to change my future with you but my past can't get mixed up in this" his posture has straightened and he's looking directly into my eyes. He's fighting back. Before I can reply, Hope's voice calls from the top of the stairs.
"What is going on? And can you keep it down? Sienna is asleep" she informs us as she makes her way down the stairs.
"You know what? I don't want to know what's going on, but you need to stop this for the night. You don't want to scare her" Hope finishes and just walks out. Jordan and I both watch her walk out and then our eyes meet.
"She's right Becca, please let's forget about this. The past is the past, you're all I want" he walks towards me and I feel my anger fade. Can I really be mad at him for what he's done? I uncross my arms and wrap them around his waist; inhaling his scent. I feel his lips on the top of my head and we mold into each other. I look up at him and his eyes say all: he's scared I'll run.
"I won't run" I assure him and he smiles his gorgeous shy smile.
"I love you, baby" he whispers against my lips and we connect in a passionate lip lock. He carries me into our bedroom while nibbling on my neck, but I can't seem to shake the thought of him and that Bianca..."Rebecca, you have had your head in the clouds this whole morning, are you going to do some work?" Marks irritating voice brings me out of my thoughts.
"I'm sorry Mark, a lot of things are going on at home and-"
"Does it look like I care?" He snaps at me and I open my mouth to say something when I see a blur of red hair walk through the door.
"You should care if your colleague isn't performing her best" Evelynn's voice causes Mark to pale. He turns to her before running off to his office. I look up at Evelynn but her face doesn't soften.
"Thanks Evel-"
"You need to explain. Come on we're going for lunch" and with that she walks out. I quickly scurry after her with my bag and we make our way in silence to the cafe a few doors down. We get our coffees and toasties before we find a table in the corner.
"Right, what's going on?" Evelynn demands and I let out a sigh.
"You know that woman that came to the office yesterday? It was Jordan's ex and she made me feel like shit and Jordan and I got into an argument about it" I explain and she raises an eyebrow.
"What did she say?"
"That I'm just a number. I know Jordan has had a lot of women in the past but it just made me doubt if what we have is real"
"Rebecca, you're so naive darling" Evelynn tells me directly and takes a sip of her triple shot black americano. I mentally roll my eyes at her order: typical Evelynn.
"What did he say?" She asks and I shrug.
"Not a lot. He just said that he can't change what he done and that he doesn't want it to affect our future. Then he kissed me and... You know" I look down at my food and rip a bit off.
"You had make up sex" she finishes my sentence and my eyes roll involuntarily.
"Yes we did, did you really have to say it?"
"Don't be coy around me, I've been there. Jordan is with you, it's clear he's changed for the better. Don't let this get in the way"Nine o'clock was the time Jordan strolled in tonight. I get up from the sofa and stalk over to him.
"What time do you call this?" I demand.
"Evening honey, how was your day?" He snaps back sarcastically and once again I cross my arms in front of him.
"Yes but nine o'clock? What have you been doing?"
"Work. In case you missed the memo, I own a company, I don't work normal hours" he walks past me and pours himself a glass of bourbon; downing it in one.
"Sienna wanted you to read her a book tonight" I tell him.
"Tell her I will read her one tomorrow"
"I told her that two nights ago, and you missed it last night for obvious reasons and you missed it again tonight. You sure you'll be here tomorrow?"
"Why are you on my back all of a sudden?!" He exclaims.
"Because I had to deal with your shitty past!" I yell back.
"That's not my fault! I've done what I've done and I've accepted it. I've accepted your past!" I flinch at his words and I feel the rage build up.
"You think I asked for that?! To be homeless for three fucking years?! You chose to drop your pants at every girl who told you to, you had full control of the shit you done, I had nothing! My parents were taken from me through no fault of their own and i didn't ask for any of this!" I scream in his face as the tears stream down my face."Mummy?" Sienna's voice pulls me out of my fury and I run up the stairs.
"Sorry honey did we wake you up?" I ask as I scoop her into my arms. She nods against my shoulder and I walk back downstairs. I grab my car keys and notice Jordan's face goes from furious to scared in a matter of seconds.
"Rebecca I-"
"I need time, Jordan. Please I just need some time"
"You promised. Rebecca you promised you wouldn't run" he pleads and I see his eyes fill with tears.
"I'm not running. I just need space. I'll call you tomorrow" and with that, I get my shoes on and walk into the elevator. I strap Sienna in her car seat and drive to the first person I can think of who won't push me to do something i wouldn't want to do. I knock on the door and let out a sigh of relief.
"Megan, I don't know what to do"
