From Rags to Riches

Just when things were back on track

Jordan:

Sienna was released from the hospital later that evening. It took almost a month for Sienna to let anyone near her hair; her scalp was still sensitive and she got aggressive if anyone tried to touch it. Thankfully that's all in the past, and today we are celebrating her fifth birthday.

I pull Rebecca against my chest and inhale her scent; a scent that I will never get tired of or forget. I feel her stir in her sleep before placing her hand on top of mine which is resting on her stomach.
"No, not yet" she mumbles into her pillow and I chuckle. We were up until three this morning setting the living room up for Sienna's birthday. We're hosting a little get together with my family and a few of Sienna's friends from kindergarten. I cover her neck with little kisses and I feel her throat vibrate as she moans. She shifts so that she's lying on her back and she looks up at me with those blue orbs I fall for every time.
"You're so beautiful" I tell her and she blushes.
"Is that all you woke me up for? Because as much as that's cute, sleep is better" she goes to turn back on her side when I put my hands on either side of her face; trapping her in a press up position.
"Sleep is better huh? Is it better than this?" I ask with a smirk as I again cover her neck in kisses. She leans her face away from me, giving me more access and she sighs happily as I make my way lower down to her collarbone.
"Hmm that's debatable" she says with a smirk and I chuckle as I remove her shirt. Her hands soon find my boxers and all sleep is forgotten.

"Ok so the present table needs to go here, I want the balloons here and here and we can- Jordan are you listening?!" I watch Rebecca in amusement as she mainly talks to herself about the plans for this party. I however have Sienna on my shoulders playing with my ears and telling me that 'mummy is funny when she's stressed'.
"Yes honey I'm listening" I say and I spin around causing Sienna to squeal.
"More daddy!" She chants so I keep spinning until I see Rebecca stand in front of me with a face that's meant to be threatening but I myself find it incredibly sexy.
"Jordan I'm serious. The guests will be here in an hour why didn't we do this last night?! Please help me" she orders and I put Sienna on the floor before kneeling down in front of her.
"Hey birthday girl why don't we go into mine and mummy's room and you can watch a DVD while we set up?" She nods at my suggestion and I take her into the bedroom with her Cinderella DVD and put it in the TV.
"Ok peanut we'll be right outside" I tell her and kiss her head before making my way back out to Rebecca.

"Becca it will be ok, please stop stressing" I pull her into my arms and give her a soft kiss.
"I'm sorry but this is her first party except her first birthday so I want it to be special" she tells me and I smile. I grab a bunch of helium balloons and look at her.
"Where are these going?"

"ELISE!" I hear Sienna exclaim as Elise and her parents walk into the living room. They almost fall over while hugging which is pretty cute; you wouldn't think they only saw each other yesterday.
"Hey Evelynn" I greet Rebecca's boss and her husband Duke.
"Hello Jordan how good to see you" she smiles and then looks over my shoulder.
"But your girlfriends better so bye!" She budges past me and I just laugh.
"How do you put up with her?" I ask Duke and he just shakes his head.
"I haven't got a clue. She keeps life interesting though" he says and I chuckle before offering him a beer; which he takes gratefully.

I watch my family with my girls and I can't help the emotion in my stomach. It sounds soppy for a man but the sight makes me feel so happy and lucky to have these people in my life. Sienna is busy running around with her friends after they've eaten her princess castle birthday cake. I'm praying she burns off all that sugar before we have to put her to bed tonight. Just then my brother makes his way over to me and hands me another beer.

"I'm proud of you bro" he tells me with a smirk.
"Whys that?"
"You used to be this stuck-up, arrogant man who didn't give a shit if it wasn't to do with work. But now, you've got your own family and I feel-" he pauses and taps the neck of his beer a few times before continuing.
"I feel like I have my brother back again, not a person who I have to make appointments with just to catch up on the week" he admits and I'm quite taken aback. Dominic and I have always been opposites; he's so outgoing and down to earth. He never takes anything seriously whereas everything is serious with me. But I never thought he felt like this.

"Dominic I- you can always talk to me. I know before I was a hot-head who never had enough time for his family. But like you said, I've changed and I want to make amends" I confess and I feel an unknown weight lifted off my shoulders.
"Well cheers to that" Dominic announces and I chuckle as we clink the necks of our beers together.
"So how are things with Megan?" I ask and I see my brother blush for the first time since I can remember.
"I'm actually thinking of asking her to marry me" he mumbles into his beer and I grin.
My brother has never been one to settle down, and when he met Megan three years ago I thought it wouldn't last. But I'm happy for him; Megan has changed him just like Becca has changed me.
"Go for it man, that girl is crazy in love with you and I wish you all the best" I pat him on the back and he gives me an unexpected hug.
"And you better pop the question to your girl soon, you're not like me you don't wait around" he whispers in my ear and I chuckle before pulling away.
"You got it bro" I wink before making my way over to my little princess who is about to open her presents.

I collapse onto the sofa with Rebecca as we look around at the toy shop that has exploded in our home. Everyone has just left and I'm kind of glad. Sienna is sitting in front of her new handmade dollhouse courtesy of my brother and Megan, making her dolls talk to each other and laughing to herself.
"I love you" Rebecca whispers to me and I smile down at her.
"I love you too beautiful. Thankyou for bringing her into my life"
"Thankyou for giving her a life I never would have been able to" she murmurs against my lips before kissing me. I start to kiss back but Mason's voice pulls us out of a trance.
"Mr. Matthews. This present was just delivered" he hands me a pink parcel and I pass it over to Rebecca who reads the tag.
"Happy fifth birthday to my little girl. You're always on my mind and in my heart.
You're real daddy x"

And just when we were becoming a family again...
