Chapter 53

JAMIE:

Despite what Kevin and I agreed last night, we still ended up sleeping at his secret fishing spot. And because of that, I now have a few insect bites on my arm. Do you know how to deal with that? Nope... No idea.

Other girls might scream and began to make these shrieking noises that's probably gonna make your ears bleed. After the wrath is over, there's gonna be a second wave since she just realized that there's something stuck on her rat nest of a hair.

That would be my current reaction if it wasn't for a topless Kevin pulling the fishing rod. I would've squealed like a fangirl or drool like one if he wasn't an egoistic jerk. Still, I can't help but stare at him. He looks like those fishermen in squeaky black boots wearing trousers with no shirts.

"G'morning." He grunted and began to pull harder on the bended rod. I didn't respond earning a smug grin on his sweat-dripping face. "Like what you see?"

I scoffed, clutching a red blanket tight. "Last time I checked you wore a shirt."

"I did but I wouldn't risk you having bug bites on your back." My face instantly went red as a beet as I realized that the "blanket" that I was currently holding is none other than Kevin's soccer jersey.

"You owe me another one, Jay-Jay." He winked. Well, that was what I thought. Turns out it was a wince. "Dammit! It got away." He let out a sigh of defeat and then placed the fishing pole on a nearby rock. "Isn't about time you go home?"

Just hearing the word 'home' made me feel uneasy. "I don't know."

"What do you mean you don't know? Greyson's worried sick about you."

"I thought you know how I felt in this situation?" I hissed.

"That was last night's concern/serious/freaking hot Kevin. The one you're talking to is spicy hot Kevin. I'm back, baby." He smirked. I rolled my eyes and threw his shirt on his face, which he caught before landing in it. "I'm not thanking you for that."

"Like I give a damn." Kevin just shrugged and put his shirt on in one swift motion. Wait... make that two since his elbow got stuck.

"Today's the day I sign those dreaded papers." Kevin's energetic smirk turned upside down.

"Those papers sounded more like an option than a choice." His head level down to mine in a crouching position. "It seems like everyone's been dictating what your do's and don'ts especially your lifetime decisions."

I didn't realize I was staring off space until Kevin lifted my chin up to face him. "I want you to tell me." He paused for a second and placed his hands around mine.

My lips began to quiver and my eyes began to water, yet the strong-willed facade is still present inside me. I already showed half of my weaknesses to him. I'm not gonna risk on him finding out more.

"What do you want?"

And for the first time in my life, I let the wall around me collapse.

                                      -------------------------------------------------

[Narrator speaking: a.ka. ME! HAHAHA LOL]

As Greyson walked along the stony path at their backyard, he couldn't help but miss the days where he and Jamie would bicker and argue about little things in this house they call 'home'. He took a forget-me-not flower and spins it like a little kid examining a new toy. He remembers the first time he got here, vowing that he would live alone and single like any fifteen year old boy would.

He got his wish in a wrong time.

"Why so sad, shit face?"

The voice rang on both of his ears making his head snap in front of him. "J-Jamie?"

"Oh no." Jamie shut her eyes and giggles. "Oh no. Don't pull the puppy lovesick eyes on me, Mr. Chance." She opens them and walked towards me. "It's not gonna work this time."

"A-About me not telling you on Tess and I's engagement, I'm really sor--"

"That's not the reason why I showed my face here, Chance." She sighs. "It's not your fault. It's mine. I shouldn't have ran away like that in the first place. I'm the stupid one not you." She runs her fingers on his arm until it rested on his hands. "Let's not talk about it right now."

"Jamie." He whispers and nuzzles his nose against hers.

"I want to forget all about what's happening around us. All the bad things and focus on what's happening today." She pulls her face away and pulls him towards the center just underneath Butch's sycamore tree.

Acting like Jamie said, Greyson pushed the tiredness away and smiled. "What are you planning?"

"How about we go back to the time when we were dancing back at the reunion, hmmm?" Greyson leaned his head back and chuckled.

He slowly glided his left hand on Jamie's waist and intertwine their fingers on the left. "Like this?" He whispers. His whispers sent goosebumps on her skin but she refused to admit it. "I remember your Mom telling me how you used to love to dance."

All of the sudden, music began to play. The couple both shrugged the thought of where did it come from. Instead, they just continue to sway following it's rhythm. Not so long, Jamie ended up resting her head on his shoulder along with her right arm.

"I'll bet you'll miss me." Greyson whispers against her ear.

Jamie scoffs. "You wish."

He chuckles. "Oh you'll miss me alright." He began to caress her waist slowly, like he's tempting her. "You'll me miss holding you close like this on our late night dinner dates." Then, he started to rub his nose on her pale neck making Jamie gasp. "You'll miss me kissing your neck every time you refuse to get up from bed."

"Of course you'll also miss my awesome cooking skills." He laughs.

"Way to ruin the moment, Sherlock." Jamie giggles, slapping his cheek lightly. Greyson playfully rolled his eyes and pulled his lover's face close to his.

"Oh please. It's just starting." He half-smiled and pressed his lips against hers.

And just like that, sparks began to fly around them.

                                                    ---------------------------------

"Dude, you're scaring me." Wesley raised an eyebrow on a smirking Kevin. They were both watching birds eat those bread crumbles on the ground at the park. Each with a can of Red bull on hand.

Kevin shrugged. "What?"

"It's like you've done something scary." Wesley suddenly snapped his head on the guy beside him. "You didn't prank Clyde again, did you?"

"What makes you think I did that?"

"Duh." Wesley laughs. "You always got that look whenever you're satisfied with something. Now tell me." He took a huge gulp on his drink. "What did you do this time?"

Kevin smiles inwardly. "I did the right thing."

                                           ----------------------------------
