Chapter 28

"What are we doing here?" I asked Kevin. We are currently sitting at the docks with our jeans all rolled up on our knees to feel the cold water gushing on our toes. I could tell that it's almost 5 in the morning as we arrived here.

Blame Kevin and his excercise routines.

"What do you think?" He smirked and pokes my head with some kind of a stick. "Here. Take a hold of this." Okay.... Maybe it wasn't a stick. But still, it looks like one in my point of view. I hesitately grabbed the stick and held it facing the water.

"What is this?"

"It's a fishing rod, genius." He said, rolling his eyes. "A top student who doesn't know what  a fishing rod is. Pssh..." He began to search something on some kind of box. Wait... Where did that come from?

"A fishing rod?" I wondered, mimmicking a fisherman casting the rod. "So we're going fishing?"

"No freaking duh." He sighed, running a hand through his brown hair. After this, he quickly assembled his rod and layed it beside him. It was pretty shocking how a person like Kevin likes to fish at this hour. Normally, boys his age only plays Xbox and rolls around the couch watching TV.

Wait..... I think that reminded me of someone.

"Don't stare too much. I might melt." That snapped me out of my thoughts. For a moment, my eyes met his green ones that made my face burn scarlet. I must thank the sun for not shining at this hour or else he might pick on me further.

"I-I wasn't staring at you, doofus." I scoffed, putting my hands on my hips. "I was just surprised how a guy like you likes to fish." He raised his eyebrow at that one. "I mean, I thought you were the sunset-romantic type of guys." I paused for a minute before adding a smug smirk. "Slash jerk."

He shook his head as if saying a disagreement. "I still wonder how a girl like you ended up with Greyson. I mean, how did he survived living with a girl like you, anyways?"

"That's pretty mean of you." I pouted. "I don't know about you, but your plan's not working. Not that I care or anything." I sighed, fiddling with the handle. "Greyson's dating Candice." He cocked his head to the side as if processing my words. "Your ex, Candice." He nodded. "She's dating my husband."

He lets out a small laugh as he put his Yankee cap on. "Then it is working." He grabbed my fishing rod and placed a thing, which I call a bait. But that wasn't on my attention.... it was his words that caught me thinking.

"What do you mean, working?"

"He's just trying to make you jealous." He paused for a bit as he puts a bait on his fishing rod. "Likewise with Candice to me. You probably know that she's kinda obsess with me. Not that I can help it." He winked.

I playfully punched his shoulder at his comment and laughed. "You and your ego."

"Is it wrong to state facts?" He chuckled then stood up. "Hey, watch this."

My eyes followed his movements. He gradually snapped his neck and rotate his shoulders, probably just to show off but I doubt that. It relaxes the muscles as Coach Brown says. He swung the fishing rod and cast it like a pro on some fishing channel. Hate to admit it but, he just never fails to amaze me.

He flashed me smug smirk as he held the fishing rod, firm and hard. "You try it." So I did. I tried to mimmick his movements (including the stretching parts) and cast it at the water. Let's just say that the bait flew like a free bird behind us.

Kevin burst out laughing, clutching his stomach in the process. "You suck." He said, in between laughs. Growing annoyed by his constant laughing, I punched him on the elbow cutting his laughter and was replaced a by groan of pain. Now I was the one laughing.
