"So, what are we doing at my history teacher's apartment?" I asked. Damon gave me a look that said 'hold on'. I sighed. Impatience was one of my bad qualities.
Ric stuck the key into the lock and turned it, opening the door. My eyes widened when I saw who was standing there at the door. Her dark brown hair was curled freely below her shoulders. Those cold brown eyes glared at all of us simultaneously.
"Katherine," I whispered, just as she spoke.
"Look who's dumb enough to come back," she said. God, she sounded just like Elena. I mean, all three of us looked alike, sort of for me, but I sounded sweeter, more dainty I guess. And Elena sounded innocent and proud. Katherine... She sounded proud...ish. Iffy because she was cowardice towards her problems. But there was a mean hint in her voice.
Ric shrugged. "Well, somebody had to invite him in. Damon. Would you like to, uh, come in?" He asked, just as Damon appeared. A smirk was at the Salvatore's face.
Katherine rushed over to Damon as he entered. "Are you trying to get me killed?" She asked. I raised my eyebrows and stepped near Elijah. I glanced at Ric who was looking at us.
"We're fine here. Just leave the door open, please?" I asked softly. Ric nodded to me, but looked at Elijah. His blue eyes were shadowed with an undetectable emotion.
"You could enter inside whenever you'd like, Elijah," he said respectfully. I smiled. But then I saw Damon push Katherine against the wall. She growled ever so slightly.
"I gave you vervain, now I'm here to collect. I got it from here, Ric," Damon said, glancing back at the history teacher. Ric looked at him and cocked an eyebrow.
"You sure?" He asked. Damon nodded.
"Yeah, only one of us needs to get blamed for this. Get back in the house. Keep Elena from handing herself over." Dang. Does Damon like Elena a lot, or what? In a way, I shipped them. Damon was good for Elena. I mean, Stefan and Elena were the super couple. But somehow, I seem to ship Delena.
"Okay," Ric said before he left. He gave us a nod before heading out the door. I directed my attention back inside. Time to watch the show.
Katherine's voice rang out. "Get blamed for what?"
Damon still held her against the wall. "I need to know where Klaus is keeping his werewolf," he said. His eyes were glaring straight into hers.
"Why? What are you going to do?"
Damon sneered. "Dead werewolf equals no ritual." He kept his gaze on Katherine the whole time. A look of shock seemed to pass over her features.
Katherine looked almost genuinely concerned for Damon. Almost. "No. You can't interfere, Damon. Klaus will kill you and everyone you've ever met."
Damon wouldn't give up. "I just need to delay this thing." Wait, why? What did he do? Oh, wait...
Katherine shook her head. "No. No way," she said. Damon glared at her.
"You should like this," he said. "It's going to buy another month of your pathetic life." Hm, sounds about right. Katherine did have a pretty pathetic life. I didn't like her. And neither did anyone else. She was a bitch.
"Right. Except that I'm not the vampire he's planning on sacrificing," Katherine said flatly. Woah, what? Then who was?
Damon raised an eyebrow. "What?" He asked and let Katherine go. She welcomed a deep breath into her undead lungs. She stabled herself before replying.
"Yeah. He's got Caroline Forbes and Tyler Lockwood. Therefore, I'm in the clear," she smirked. Woah, woah. He's got my best friend?! I zoned out of their conversation and turned to Elijah. A look of disgust came onto my face.
