Back to school from break, ugh. Who else misses sleeping in?
I do...
Anyways, here's another chapter. Enjoy!!
_______
(Alice)
On the nightstand next to my bed, my phone was ringing. I had been lying in bed for an hour now, staring at the ceiling for no reason exactly. When I looked over, it was Elena calling. Before I answered it, I touched the elegant necklace on my neck and smiled.
Then I picked up my phone and answered it. "Lena, hey," I greeted.
Elena's voice sounded tense. "Hey, Al." I wondered what's going on with her.
"What's wrong? You sound like you've heard bad news," I said. I was starting to get concerned.
She hesitated on the other line. "Alice," she started. Uh, oh. The full name calling. Something's up. "You should know that Esther is planning on killing her entire family..."
Shocked and appalled, I nearly dropped the phone. "WHAT?!" My voice cracked. I couldn't believe this! I knew there was something in that drink!
"She's linked then all together with a spell," Elena's voice sounded small. "Whatever happens to one, happens to all of them. I'm so sorry."
I still couldn't believe it. Why would a mother want to kill her children?! "She linked them through the champagne, didn't she?" I asked, hushed and monotone. Words couldn't express how much fury I had towards Esther.
Elena was silent for a moment. "Yes," she said slowly. "How did you know?"
I rolled my eyes. "Lena, I'm a witch. Let alone an Original vampire witch. I'm a prophecy. Of course I'd know if there was something spelled in stuff," I explained. She already knows I find everything out eventually. Why did she sound so shocked?
I then thought why. "And I didn't let Elijah drink it. I found out before he even drank a drop," I told her, my voice taught. "Wait, why do you sound so shocked? Did you have something to do with this?"
Elena's silence was my answer. I gaped. "Elena! If I hadn't found out about it myself, Elijah would've drank that! How could you not tell me earlier?!" I didn't know why I was freaking out now, but I just kinda flipped. These vampire emotions are getting to me.
I didn't know if Elena hung up or not, but I calmed down. "I'm sorry, Lena. It's my heightened emotions talking. Don't take it to heart," I tried explaining.
There was a relieved sigh on the other end. "I'm really sorry, Alice. I wanted to tell you, but Esther was everywhere, eagle-eye watching me."
"I understand," I told her. "Being watched sucks ass." A grin appeared at my lips. "If I was with you, I'd tell you to go up to her and say, 'take a picture, it lasts longer, Witch Mama.'"
Elena laughed. "And I would take your word for it and do it," she giggled. I started laughing too.
My eyes traveled to the clock. It was already past noon. Ugh, why do I always sleep so late? "Hey, Lena, I have to go," I told her. "Thank you for telling me this."
I could almost hear Elena's smile. "I really wanted to tell you earlier, but you're welcome. I hope I see you sometime today!" She laughed.
I smiled. "Me too," I said before hearing her goodbye. Then, I hung up. What was I going to do today? There's, like, nothing at my house. But first, time to get dressed in something casual. Hmm...maybe Plain Jane shorts and a shirt.
