Matt left, and now he's on the phone with Bonnie. He was worrying for Jeremy.
"Did you find Jeremy?" He asked. Bonnie sighed into the phone.
"No!" She groaned. "I called him, like, twenty times." She shook her head. I raised my eyebrows. What was he doing then?
"All right, I'll grab my keys. We'll head to his house," Matt said. Bonnie agreed.
"Okay, I'll meet you by your truck," she said. Then, Matt hung up.
We walked through the hallways and out of the school. Everything seemed eerily quiet.
I glanced at Bonnie. "So we're going to the Gilbert house?" I questioned, keeping up with her pace.
"Yes," she replied, pulling out her keys. Her car unlocked as we came up to it. My fingers wrapped around the handle to the passenger side. I pulled the handle and jumped into the seat.
The door swung shut after my feet slid in. Bonnie hopped in and started the engine, pulling out of the parking spot.
We were off down the road in an instant. I watched in the rearview mirror as the school became nothing but a speck as we came closer to Elena's. Soon, the school was blocked by houses on the street.
I sighed and looked away. "Where do you think Jer is?" I asked, breaking the silence.
Bonnie looked at me from the corner of her eye. She sighed slowly. "I don't know." The car pulled into the Gilbert driveway. There were no other cars there.
We walked up to the door and knocked. The echo rang through the house. I took it that nobody was home.
My hand grasped the doorknob, and I found it was unlocked. Bonnie followed after me as I went inside the dark house. I flicked on the lights. Nobody was home, like, at all.
We sat and waited for awhile for Matt. He said he'd come. But he was taking forever. Bonnie took out her phone and dialed his number.
"What's taking so long?" Bonnie asked. She was impatient. Like me. Hah.
"This is going to sound crazy, but I think Vicki's trying to reach out to me," he said. He sounded like he was carrying something heavy.
Bonnie's face grew confused. "What?" She asked.
"I think she can help us save Tyler," he explained. Bonnie shook her head, her long dark hair swishing with the movement.
"No," she denied. "Jeremy can help us save Tyler," she corrected. Yeah, how could Vicki help?
Matt wouldn't give up. "We can't find Jeremy. We need to try something else. I have an idea, but I'm going to need your help. Meet me at the pool," he planned. A bad feeling conjured in the pit of my stomach. Something was wrong here.
Bonnie raised an eyebrow. "I don't understand." We walked out from the house and drove off in Bonnie's car, heading up to the school.
"Jeremy can see ghosts because you brought him back from the dead. I need you to do that for me."
My eyes widened. "Oh, my God," I whispered, shocked. I knew he was planning something dangerous! Bonnie viscously shook her head.
"What?! No, Matt, that's crazy!"
Matt kept his hopes up. "This is going to work, trust me," he said. My heart was in my throat now. No, Matt was going to attempt to kill himself!
Bonnie wouldn't have it. "No, Matt, I can't do that kind of magic anymore," she told him. By now, we were running into the school. Running to the pool area, to be exact.
