Sorry for the long wait!

We had Keystones recently, and everything was messed up. Too many tests, ugh.

But, anyways, here's a chapter for you all!!! Enjoy!!

I felt less awkward to be at the Mikaelsons' mansion again. Their murderous mother was gone, and that's what made it less awkward. But that didn't matter now. The rest of the family was what mattered. Tonight was terrible. And tonight was a bust.

Tonight...let's just bluntly put it...

Sucked ass.

Elijah was staring out the window. I felt horrible for him. He had to listen to Esther insult his very name! His own mother! I stood absently at the door, watching with sad eyes.

Then, Rebekah burst in. "Where the bloody hell is everyone?" She asked. Her eyes swept the room. I looked at her and shrugged.

Elijah turned and met her eyes. "It's over, Rebekah," he flatly said.

Rebekah furrowed her eyebrows. "Where's Mother?" I didn't even want to know why she'd ask that.

Elijah's eyes were full of despair. "We have no mother. Only Esther, and Esther was right." My heart broke at the sound of his voice. He sounded so hurt, so broken now. He wasn't a monster. Esther was.

"What do you mean?" His sister asked.

He averted his eyes from her. "My talk of virtue. When it suits my needs, I kill, maim, and torment," he explained. "Even today, I terrorized an innocent." He looked regretful. I just wanted to...to make him feel loved...

Rebekah rolled her eyes. "Elena is hardly innocent," she said.

He locked his eyes back with Rebekah's. "And I used your hatred of her to get what I wanted. Wielded you like I would a sword. My sister," his voice was tensed. I bit my lip.

"You did it to protect us, Elijah, and rightly so!" She objected. "We deserve to live! We are better than they are."

He gave her a doubtful look. "Are we? Mother made us vampires. She didn't make us monsters, we did that to ourselves," he said before leaving. I followed after him. I wouldn't let him leave alone. No way in hell!

I walked out of the mansion behind him.

"Elijah," I called. "Elijah!" He didn't turn around. I decided to get demanding.

I flashed up in front of him. Now, he stopped. "Elijah, listen to me." I grabbed his shoulders by my hands. "You're not a monster. Do you hear? You're not a monster!"

He shook his head. "Alice, no," he pulled away from my grip. "You don't need to be burdened with such a being like me anymore." He started to walk away again, but I was not having it.

I flashed around him again. "No. Don't do that. You're taking all this too hard! She's getting to you, Elijah. Don't let her do that," I urged, my eyes locked on his.

He shook his head once again. "Alice, she's right. She was right about everything," he told me before flashing off. I let out a frustrated shout before rushing off after him.

He stopped at the park. He was walking near the stream before I marched up to him.

"Do not take this out on yourself! You don't deserve the pain, the guilt, any of it!" My voice cracked.

He swung his head around before he met my eyes. "Then what do you suppose I deserve?" He deserved a hell lot of a better life than this. He deserved to be loved. He deserved to feel happiness.
