Klaus had placed me in the same circle as Elena. I ran up to her and hugged the hell out of her. My arms grasped her tightly.

"Elena! Oh, my God, I'm so sorry!" I twirled her around. She hugged me back just as tight.

"Alice," she started, pulling apart from me. "Klaus." She pointed outside of the circles. Klaus had the moonstone in his hand.

"I've got the moonstone. I spent 500 years looking for this. I hate to part with it," Klaus said. He had a smug look on his face. I scoffed. That bastard.

He handed the moonstone to the witch. "That's Greta," Elena explained. I nodded. Greta looked up at the sky with the stone in hand.

"The moon has passed its apex," Greta said. "Remember everything you need to do?" She asked Klaus. He nodded.

"I remember." With that, Greta dropped the moonstone into the stone bowl filled with flames. Sparks started to sputter and fly as the moonstone was destroyed. My eyes widened. Greta started to chant a spell in Latin. One I didn't recognize. I looked at Klaus as he approached the rings of fire. The girl in the far ring was groaning in pain. She looked up at Elena.

"Everything I did... I was just trying to help Tyler," she said. Wait, who was this woman?

"Are you Jules?" Elena asked. The groaning girl cried out. She seemed as if she was in a load of pain.

"I didn't want him to be alone!" The woman- Jules- cried. She writhed and sobbed on the heated grass. Klaus looked down at her.

"Shall we?" He grinned. I glared at him. He was an even bigger ass than Damon was. And Damon could definitely originate from a donkey.

I watched as the fiery ring around Jules dispersed. A look of shock passed over her face as she realized what that meant. Her eyes seemed to turn yellow, and she rushed at Klaus. Oh, bad move, sister. Klaus flipped her around and pinned her to the ground. Jules struggled, but Klaus's hand tore into her chest. I gasped in horror. With one swift motion, he ripped out her heart. I felt my breathing quicken. He was terrible! Jules had tears streaming down her face as she took her final breath of air. Klaus was breathing heavily as he held the bloody heart in his gruesome hand. The rest of us watched in horror.

He held the heart above the flames as Greta continued to chant a spell. He squeezed the blood into the bowl. The crimson liquid fell like a stream grotesquely into the dark porcelain bowl full of crackling flames.

"Does that mean it's working?" He asked. Greta glanced at him with flat eyes.

"It's working," she verified. My stomach was in knots at the sight. Ugh, I was going to vomit soon!

Jenna looked up at Elena through the fire ring. "The day that the lawyers called to tell me that I was going to become your guardian, you know what my first thought was?" She asked. Elena looked down at her and shook her head. "Isn't there someone else who could do this?" Tears were streaming down Jenna's face. I felt terrible.

"Jenna," Elena started, "there was no one else who could have gotten me and Jeremy through all of that." Elena looked sad. I would feel sad too, hell, even furious, if my aunt was going to die like this.

"It's just the though that I almost passed up taking care of you," Jenna whimpered.

"But you didn't," Elena said. She kneeled down to her aunt's level. "You put your entire life on hold to help us." She was looking directly at Jenna.

"Look around, Elena. I failed you," her aunt replied. My heart felt like it was gripped with a brute hand like Klaus's. My brunette best friend shook her head.
