I stood in a field full of luscious grass and flowers. There was a slight breeze that made my hair flow gently, my red curls twisting in the air. The air smelled sweetly of the floral scent. I looked down at myself.

A Victorian age dress was formed to my body and puffed out at my hips for the skirt, and my hair was pinned back in a neat hairstyle. It seemed so out of character for the scenery, but I liked it. I happened to love Victorian dresses. Kind of odd, how I assumed I didn't like old age things, huh?

"You would fit quite nicely in the Victorian age, Alice," a voice called from behind me. I gave a little gasp of surprise as I whirled around to see the man I met while I was using my magic. Elijah.

"Elijah...?" I said in half question. I wanted to confirm that it was him. He still looked handsome and noble, but his eyes showed a different emotion than before. I couldn't place what, though...

"Forgive me. I did not think to introduce myself," he apologized. I nodded with a small smile.

"Don't pressure yourself," I replied quietly. His eyes that were locked on mine made me feel like a mouse. I was practically squeaking out my words. "Wait, how do you know my name? I forgot to introduce myself too..." I pondered slightly.

Elijah walked up to me slowly, his eyes held softness, and his mouth was curved in a small smile. "I pick up on a few details when I am ensuring your safety," he said while brushing my hair away from my face. His fingertips touched my skin softly, and I blushed. I felt my insides flutter. His eyes made me melt deep down.

"Wha...Why do I need to be kept safe?" I asked softly. I completely forgot the conversation at the Salvatore residence. Elijah's hand lingered by my face, but he soon dropped it slowly. I exhaled half in disappointment.

"My brother Niklaus," he said with disturbance. "He wants to break a curse that has been set upon him a thousand years ago. He needs the doppelgänger to do so. Your friend Elena is the doppelgänger he needs, but if he found out about you, Alice, he would take all the assuring he needed for the sacrifice to proceed." Elijah sounded slightly disgusted. I blinked and processed this information again. The Salvatores told me about this, but coming from a brother's view made it sound worse...

"...How would I live through it?" I asked, my voice quieter than before. I was afraid to ask because I thought I most likely wouldn't live. I couldn't think about dying. Not yet. I couldn't leave Elena and Caroline and everyone. Not like that.

"For starters, you are a doppelgänger witch. That makes you special already. All the more reasons to keep you from Klaus's acknowledgment. But there is a way," Elijah explained. Before he could explain any more, I cut in.

"Wait," I interrupted softly. Elijah's gaze caught mine. I felt like an ass for interrupting. An instant blush engulfed my face. "Sorry," I muttered. I bowed my head and looked away a little.

Elijah's fingers slipped under my jaw, lifting my head up for my eyes to reach his gaze. I felt my heart pound. He must've noticed this because his eyes were glimmering, but he chose to not point it out.

"What is it?" He asked. His voice sounded like pure silk. I drew in a shaky breath.

"Normally...I don't stay asleep this long into dreams. I was going to ask when...when I would actually meet you," I admitted poorly. His brown orbs were glued on me the whole time. My breathing became shaky by his touch under my chin.

He took his hand away from my face, stepping back once in the process. "We could formally meet today, if you are not occupied with anything," he said. I breathed in deeply and nodded.
