We were sent here plenty of times before. Each time fleeing. Me and Sun agreed, this time, there was no running.
We would fight until we could not fight anymore.
The beast stood, taller. Bigger. Louder.
And he was laughing, a viscous, two toned laugh. His legs uneven, he slants slightly to the left. We decided that's where to hit.
"So, children, you've come yet again. To what do I owe the pleasure?" The beast asks, his blue fur blowing in the wind. His voice echoing in the void of the desert.
Sun says nothing, just stiffens. Determination in his eyes, his blond hair whipping in the breeze.
I answer, "Oh, just you know, wanted to say hi, check up on you, dear," I say, mocking a high pitch voice. The blue beast laughs, his shoulders bouncing, uninjured from the previous day.
"Adira, simitar mode, now," Sun says through his teeth. Always so serious. I do as he asks, a dark shadow following into the sword form. My curved blade glimmering the the heated air surrounding us.
Sun stands there for a moment, considering where to strike. He then says something I didn't expect. "Soul Resonance!" He yelled at once, making me jump.
"Okay," I say, unsure. His soul syncs with mine, his thoughts mingle with my own. I feel our soul presence grow and gain momentum. "Hundred Swords forming. Almost there Sun,"
"Can you make any more?" he whispers. I cringe. One-hundred is the highest I have ever been able to do.
"One-Hundred Fifty swords forming," I repeat. He nods. I split my soul into every aspect I can think of. Happy, sad, anger, disappointment, joy, quietness, loudness, wits, on and on until I reach my total number. "Ready,"
"Aim" he replies.
I hesitate, "Fire!"
150 swords fly toward the enemy, all making contact. Sand flies up, limiting our vision. Sun chucks me into the mist of sand and I make contact with the monster's arm. His blood dripping down my blade. The dust settles, the other swords have disappeared. I feel my weakness taking toll. Was that really the best move to start a fight with? Sun runs toward the monster at full speed. Retrieving me from the beast's arm. He starts stabbing the creature again, not stopping until he runs out of breath.
Cuts and scars cover our opponents body.
But slowly start to close. I see the hope in Sun's eyes diminish. This guy's immortal, I should have known. Even us, the very embodiments of the souls of the sun and moon, can't compete.
"Dual sword mode," Sun whispers. I don't understand, he knows it took most of my energy to do our previous attack.
Despite this, erasing all doubt from my voice, I reply, "Of course,"
He is my Meister.
I trust him wholeheartedly.
Splitting my soul has always been the easy part. I was born with that ability. Very few can master this technique. I was born with it. Although, maintaining the split is always a challenge. I never told Sun this, but if I let go, I could lose my sanity.
Yours is a rare gift, my dear. My mother's words are used as a grip, my normal trick. I focus on them.
Yours is a rare gift, my dear.
A rare gift. A rare gift my dear.Yours is a rare gift, my dear.
Yours is a rare...a rare.
