Sun's speed seems to treat us well as we dodge many of their attacks, although each one that hits him slows him down.
Why are you slowing? I ask him in his head.
I think the blade is poisonous, he growls in reply.
I think it's time to hit the lights, I grin. I turn out of weapon from and immediately fade into shadow. They look around, panicked, before taking their calm battle stance.
Sun charges at them, full force. His tattoo glows for a moment before he jumps up and tries to land on top of them, but missed.
While in the shadows, I realize the others have stopped to watch us.
Once directly behind them, I reappear. The weapon transforms in a green mist and smirks at me.
Sun and the girl enter a combat, each equally matched. The girl's nails act like blades.
Venom exhales heavily and is surrounded by green mist. Since nobody in the smoke is coughing or falling over, I assume it simply works as a smokescreen.
I enter the shadows.
The eyes of everyone on me makes my stomach flutter. They can't see you, I think to myself.
I run, invisible, through the mist. I use my nerves to form a sword.
Suddenly I see him, he stands with his arms crossed.
I walk out of the shadows slowly, and he turns.
His gaze falls to my weapon and he gives me a knowing glare.
The air suddenly thickens. I choke on it before covering my mouth with my sleeve.
One handed fighting, fine by me.
I keep my hand at my mouth and ready my sword. My feet pound at the oddly soft gym floor.
I slash him many times before the sword gets heavier, my arm tired. Lack of air.
I slash at him a few more clumsy times before the weapon disappears. I remove my hand and jump to attack him. I land on him, and elbow him in the temple full force.
The mist immediately clears, as he rubs his head.
Sun stands triumphant on the other side of our space, the girl struggling to stand.
"You win," he grunts.
"Adira and Sun win!" Spirit says triumphantly. Everyone claps, except for a few people that resemble Venom and Karta, what can only explained as edgy. They glare silently at us.
"You okay?" Sun asks me as I catch my breath.
I nod in reply, still being affected by the boys poison. I cough a few times, Maka gently pats me on the back.
"They showed up right after you... Well... Died? This is the first display of their power," she says. "Their fighting technique is to split up and take multiple enemies at a time, while most partners strategies is to stick together,"
"It's effective," I cough.
"They're powerful, people are saying the girl has some powers of a witch as well," Soul adds.
"Can't you look at their souls?" I ask Maka. She nods and focuses. Her eyes widen.
"What? Maka?" Sun asks before she runs to her father. He nods.
"I know," I hear him say. Maka shoves him, and starts whisper-yelling at him.
"It's dangerous! Your gonna get us all killed!" is all I can make out of her rant. I walk over quickly.
"Whats going on?" I place my hand on her shoulder.
She looks around awkwardly, rolling her eyes in frustration. "They are Kishins. They have eaten many human souls, their sanity is wavering," she whispers to me.
The girl looks at us, obviously realizing we found out. She walks slowly towards us.
**Karta's Pov**
Their panicked faces give it all away. I take off the daggers attached to my fingertips and approach them.
I take a small breath. What am I gonna say? I wanna change? I know they have heard that one before.
"What do you mean?" Adira asks before noticing me.
"I.. uh," I whisper. The blond girl glares at me and I can feel her staring at my soul.
"It's not what you think," I manage to say. The rest of the class silences.
"I'm a Kishin, but I didn't think what I was doing was bad," I whisper to the blond and Adira. "I was born into it, and when I realized that I was... murdering... innocent people, that had done nothing at all to deserve what I was doing, I couldn't do that anymore. Me and Venom ran,"
"Okay, then why does your soul still reek of madness?" Maka growls.
I exhale. This much socialization is stressful for me, "Once you start, it's hard to stop. We came here hoping that, uh, others could guide and help us, to resist?" I look up from under my eyelashes. Adira is smiling.
She grabs my hand and leads me to the girls bathroom.
"I knew I recognized you," she smiles.
"Pardon?" I'm taken aback by her acceptance to my... history.
She shakes her head, "Never mind,"
"Uhum," Sun clears his throat, standing at the entrance. "Karta, is it? Your partner is looking for you," he says. Adira stares at him, and he nods.
"Uh, okay," I say, shoving past him out of the door.
**Adira's Pov**
I watch as the girl leaves the room.
"What was that all about?" Sun asks.
I think about the day I met Sun. I knew she looked familiar. I smile at Sun, then walk past him.
"Just, you know, girl stuff,"
**Hey guys! I've been pretty inactive lately, I've been having unbelievable writers block! I'm stumped, guys. Some of my fanfictions may not be updated until I am able to think of things to write, just a fair warning. Thanks for reading, bye!**
