Eponine awoke still against the wall she had been sobbing against that night. The sun was shinging bright in the middle of the sky signaling the afternoon. She remembered her task from the night before. She had to find Marius and Gavroche. She stared for a couple minutes still in shock over the people she had gotten to know the day before laying there lifeless.
"Eponine..." whispered a voice behind her.
It was Marius. She ran up to him and threw her arms around his neck when he yelped a bit she backed up worried and noticed a wound on his shoulder. He was shot but it didnt seem too serious.
"You should get to a hospital do get that cleaned up. Wheres Gavroche have you seen him?" She said worried
He looked at her dead in the eyes.
"He was hurt lying on the ground so i took him back to my house before more trouble began."
His eyes wandered behind Eponine realizing the bodies lying upon the floor were his friends. He shook his head and tried to forget what he just saw. He knew some of his friends were destine to fall. He held back his tears and began to walk Eponine back to his house.
As they were about to turn the corner Eponine heard a faint sobbing. She ran toward the noise and found the boy. From the day before, the one who had been beat by his parents. He was trembling behind some boxes. He mustve been kicked out. When the boy saw Eponine approching him he crawled back very fast and winced a bit.
"Dont be afraid, Im here to help you"
He looked at her confused and thr boy glanced over to Marius who looked more confused than he did. He raised his arm slowly and pointed to the man behind her.
"Thats Marius, He was a revolutionary"
The sound of 'revolutionary' made the boys eyes light up. He slowly stood up, he wasnt very tall and had shaggy brown hair and torn dark brown shirt and pants.
"Lets get you cleaned up. How does that sound?" Eponine suggested
The boy shook his head and took her hand. Eponine smerked as he did this. She felt a love and understanding for the boy immediately .
Marius lead the way back to his place. And as they opened the door they heard a loud high pitched moan. Gavroche. As soon as Gavroche could see Eponine his eyes lit up glad she was safe. Eponine sat the child she found down on a chair and rushed to Gavroche.
"Where are you hurt?"
Gavroche raised his hand slowly and pointed to his leg.
Eponine raised the sheet that enveloped him and saw the bullet just mearly wounding him. She knew this would have to be taken out immediately. She remembered that her and Marius would always play with his now late mothers doctor tools. It has always been an interest of hers to become a doctor and help the hurt and sick.
Marius knew exactly what she was thinking and ran into a room and returned with the familiar doctors kit.
Eponine began placing the metal tools on the ground beside her and picked the one that looked like it was right for removing the bullet fragments. She gently and slowly brought it to Gavroches leg and pulled the first one out quickly like ripping a bandaid. Gavroche yelped loudly at this and she realized taking it fast was not the way to do it. For the next peice of the bullet she dug the tool in slowly. She saw Gavroche cringe in pain. The little boy who Eponine placed on the chair came running up to him grabbing his hand in comfort. Eponine smiled but went right back to work.
When she was done removing the fragments of the bullet she thought he may need stitches to close the open wound. She did it so perfect and neat that everyone was suprized. Eponine grinned as if to boast about her accomplishment.
"Bravo!" Marius giggled.
They all laughed even though Gavroches laugh was a in pain laugh but he knew because of his sister he would feel better soon.
