"Are you done?" He asks.
"Yeah," she replies begrudgingly. The guy turns around to face a girl scowling at him with her hands on her hips. "You didn't answer my question," she finally says.
"What do you mean?" He asks confused and his dark brows intertwine.
"I asked you who you are, you didn't answer me." She lifts one eyebrow and starts tapping her foot impatiently.
" 'cause you yelled at me!" He replies feeling accused.
"I wasn't wearing a shirt!" She says furiously.
"Kyan."
"What?" She asks feeling completely lost and consumed by annoyance.
"That's my name. Some call me Eagle," he says with a smug look on his face. Understanding dawns on her and her annoyed expression fades.
"Eagle?" She asks confused.
"Yeah, it's my code name." He sways back and forth on the balls of his feet with his hands in his pockets. She realises who he is and a feeling of begrudging the future fills her.
"Great, he's the guy my age who's going to laugh at me in training. I hate him already," she thinks to herself as she tucks a stray hair behind her ear.
"So, you are the other Agent," she states rather than asks.
"Yup," he says popping the 'p'. She furrows her brow as she thinks the situation over. A few moments of silence pass between them.
"Wait, why Eagle?" She asks suddenly.
He smiles the words, "I can fly. So, Eagle." He arches his left brow at her in amusement.
"You can fly?" Rebecca asks in disbelief. "How is that even possible?"
"Well, it's pretty simple really, I can change the gravitational pull in a few meters radius around me. I can also withstand immense pressure," he says in a matter-of-fact way.
"Wow! Okay, that's pretty cool. Can you show me?" She asks in a nervous tone of voice.
"Sure, just look up at me. In my eyes." She does as he says and realises that she has been looking in people's eyes a lot today. But it is only now that she really looks at him that she realises that he has intense green eyes and such dark brown hair it appears black. He has full pink lips and a sparkling smile. She can understand how he might make some girls weak in the knees, but for some reason it only makes her feel annoyed.
"Now, look at my feet." Rebecca looks down to see him hovering above the ground.
"Oh my gosh!" She brings her hands to her face. "You're floating!" She exclaims in disbelief.
"Yeah, I noticed," he says dryly, and she just rolls her eyes.
"That's amazing!" She says, almost breathless.
"Becca! We gotta go!" Her mother calls from outside.
"Ah! You're their daughter," Kyan says as he nods slowly.
"Yeah." Rebecca replies tight lipped.
"Finally came around hey?" He says smiling his sparkling smile. Rebecca just wants to slap that smile off his face.
"What do you mean 'came around'?" She says trying to be cheeky with her hands on her hips.
"I mean like did your powers finally show. Sheesh! Don't be so defensive," he says holding his hands up in a surrendering manner. Rebecca rolls her eyes and starts putting her stuff away, but he just won't shut up.
"So, you know all about me now," he starts as he walks to the lightwood bench and spreads out on it. "Tell me about you." Rebecca slams her locker shut and spins around to face him.
"Hi. My name is Rebecca, my code name is Agent Bluebird. I can hear other people's thoughts and I'm totally freaking out because everything I thought to be true isn't. Is that what you want to hear? Is that enough info about me or do you want to see me without a shirt again!" All her emotion pours out without control. She glares at him with her hands on her hips, trying to look defiant.
"Is that an option?" He asks mockingly in a suggestive tone. She rolls her eyes once again and slings a bag over her shoulder. "You're not that hot you know!" He shouts after her as she walks out of the room. "This is going to be fun," he thinks to himself as he goes to his locker to gather his things.
