It isn't even a week later and they have already received their next mission. Rebecca is one of the first members to sit down at the briefing table, for once. As soon as everyone is sitting down Rebecca's father starts on his briefing. He slides each member of the agency a file. Which is unusual.
"The mission we're going to discuss today is a mission that the police have been struggling to crack for a long time. They have tried to get help elsewhere, but the culprit always slipped out of their hands. After our great performance two weeks ago, they were referenced to us. These files contain all the intel they have of the culprit and a few suspects. This mission is a bit trickier than all the others we have received so far with Agent Bluebird on our team. Maybe even ever We will need to investigate, follow and capture this culprit."
Rebecca's hand shoots up. "Yes, Agent Bluebird?"
"This culprit, what is he being accused of?"
"If you open your files to page three, in paragraph four they state that the culprit is involved in the trading of explosives." They all page to the place her father pointed out.
"Is there a certain time limit to this mission?" Rebecca's mother asks, still looking at the file.
"Yes, we have two months," he says folding his hands in front of him.
"Wow! That's a long time," Rebecca says surprised.
"Yes, well we have to track her down and that may take a long time in itself. Then we have to capture her and bring her back here."
"Bring her back?" Rebecca's mother's head shoots up from the file at Rebecca's question.
"Yes, she travels a lot to stay under the radar."
"Does that mean we will have to follow her as she travels around?"
"Yes. We will have to. The police have given us a fair amount of money to use for traveling costs, disguises, weapons, which I think we won't need but anyway, and of course food."
"Okay. So what do we do now?" Rebecca asks, leaning forward with her hands folded neatly in her lap.
"I suggest that you all go through his profile and get to know him better. I think we should all have a study together for the rest of the day." They all agree and start working through the file.
"Most of these suspects are female," Kyan says with a crinkled nose.
"Yes?" Rebecca's father draws out.
"It isn't exactly a woman's world. The bomb trafficking business," he says with squinted eyes.
"Are you saying that a woman can't be able to be a major bomb trafficker?" Rebecca's mother asks incredulously.
"No. I, it's just, very unlikely," he stutters as he tries to correct he mistake with all eyes on him.
Rebecca is slightly annoyed by his remarks, but doesn't say anything that could further destroy their sort of friendship.
"Women can do anything men can do and with more style," her mother replies. Kyan looks to Rebecca's father for some manly support.
He shrugs and says,"I can't argue with her since she is my wife and she has proved that statement over and over again." She gives him a satisfied smile and looks back at Kyan, daring him to further challenge her.
He shrugs and flips the page of his file in silence.
"Okay guys," Rebecca's father claps his hands. "That is all for today. Take the file home with you and read through it. Tomorrow we will talk about leads that we are going to follow and so on." They all stand up and say goodbye before leaving.
Rebecca can't seem to fall asleep as she rolls around in her bed. All she can think about is the mission and who the criminal is. Suspects and their profiles flash through her head when she closes her eyes. With a annoyed grunt she pushes herself up from the bed and walks over to her desk against the opposite wall of her room. The file is lying face down on the desk. She grabs the file and flops onto her bed with her stomach.
She reads through the entire file and weighs the different suspects. She finally decides which suspect seems the most likely to her to be the bomb trader. Finally she falls asleep at two o'clock in the morning, knowing that she has done her part and confident of her deduction.
Great! Yet another mission. Except this one is over a period of time. Hope it wasn't too short a chapter.
