As soon as they leave the subway and head to the hospital to get Kyan checked out, Rebecca's parents and the policemen start asking questions.
"What happened? Where did you find Kyan? Was Dasha there and if she was what did she want?" Rebecca's mother asks.
"Dasha wasn't there. I guess she just wanted to give us the message to leave her alone by taking Kyan. I found Kyan tied to a chair somewhere in the subway. He seems fine but we really need to get him to the hospital," Rebecca states simply in reply.
"That won't be necessary. I just need some rest and to treat my burn wounds as instructed. I'll be fine," Kyan says in protest.
"I know you're trying to be brave and all but you really need stitches for that cut on your cheek and possibly your head as well. There is also a good chance that you have a concussion from the fall," Rebecca says, analyzing his face and the wounds with a concerned facial expression.
"Seriously? I have to go to the doctors twice in one day?" He whines, rolling his eyes at how she, in his opinion, is overreacting.
"Yes! Now stop whining, because you're going whether you like it or not."
"Fine..."
"So, how did you find Kyan?" The policeman who is currently driving asks, looking at Rebecca through the rearview mirror. She looks at him through the mirror as well. His dark hair and tanned skin is illuminated by the lights of the speedometer.
"I just had a hunch and wondered in that direction. Then there he was," she lies.
"Just like that? Dasha didn't leave a note or message or anything?"
"Nope. She escaped. The whole kidnapping was probably just a division so she could get away unnoticed," she looks out the window almost as if she is searching for Dasha outside. "I think this is a mission that we won't be able to complete. Besides we have another more pressing matter to attend to," she looks at her mother.
They arrive at the hospital and help Kyan out of the van. As they enter the ER people scramble to find a gurney to put him on. They take him to his own personal room and after almost an hour Rebecca and her parents are allowed in to see him. He has a bandage around his head and stitches in his face. He is now feeling a little dazed from the concussion he previously refused to acknowledge.
"See. I told you you need stitches," Rebecca says jokingly. Kyan just smiles slightly before wincing at the pulling feeling in his cheek caused by the stitches. After another hour everyone decides to leave, but Rebecca refuses. She somehow feels responsible for what Kyan is going through and doesn't want to leave his side. She finally falls asleep next to his bed on the visitor's chair.
The next morning consciousness slowly creeps in and the noise of the television becomes more clear.
"Hello sleepy head." Kyan says as Rebecca rubs her eyes, still trying to wake up.
"Hi," she says and smiles sleepily.
"I tried not to wake you. You seemed really tired."
"Yeah. How are you feeling?"
"Sore and a little dizzy, but they say it is expected. I'm also starving!" Rebecca laughs at his comment.
"I'll get you something from the cafeteria. May I?" Rebecca asks, unsure if the nurses will be bringing him food or whether he is on a certain diet now because of the wounds.
"I'm sure it will be fine. By the time the nurses bring me food I will have died from hunger," Rebecca laughs and he starts to laugh himself before wincing from the pain again.
"Oops! You really shouldn't try to smile," Rebecca says with her hand in front of her mouth.
"That is sort of hard with you around, " Rebecca looks down and smiles at his words. This experience has changed her feeling about Kyan and she somehow feels more fond of him. And judging by his words, he feels the same.
"I'll go and get you something to eat." She leaves Kyan alone in the room and heads to the cafeteria.
Two days later he is discharged from the hospital and they return home. Kyan was given strict orders to stay in bed and rest, which doesn't bother Rebecca or her parents all that much since they are busy preparing for the expedition they will soon be starting. Kyan insists on coming and so it has been postponed another week. The postponement upsets Rebecca and yet she is very glad about it to a certain degree. She is still unsure if she wants to go through with it, now knowing that she will be leading the enemy to their birth place, so to speak. She also knows that she doesn't have a choice. Whether she wants to do it or not. She has to, to protect her family.
Her parents have been asking her to fill in the blanks about what happened in France and why she was so eager to start the expedition. She is getting tired of lying to them, even if it could save their lives. It still feels wrong.
The day of the expedition arrives and they fly to the place where their adventure will start, Ireland.
Hey! Hope you guys liked that little moment between Kyan and Rebecca. The expedition is finally starting!!
