Rebecca is racking her brain, trying to remember what Cicil looked like. But she can't remember, it was too dark to see his face at the subway station. It has to be him!
At least now Rebecca knows who she needs to keep an eye on and potentially get rid of at the end of the day. Kyan notices that Rebecca is upset and asks,"What is it? Do you know one of them?"
"Do you remember that Dasha called the man who brought me to her Cicil?" Rebecca asks looking at Kyan briefly and then looking back at the two men.
"Yes?" Kyan drags out the word, unsure of why she is bringing him up.
"I could swear that I just saw that guy call him Cicil." Kyan looks at them in surprise and looks back to Rebecca.
"Are you sure?" He whisper shouts.
"Positive," she says with absolute conviction.
"Well then it seems we have an enemy on our hands," he says seriously and then bursts into laughter. Rebecca joins in the laughter, mostly just because he's laughing and he has one of those infectious laughs. They just enjoying being in each other's ccompany and not fighting as they both laugh together. Luckily it was possible for him to laugh again, since his stitches were removed only 3 days ago. Instead of the shallow gash there now is a moderate white line. Luckily the scar didn't leave an ugly scar.
"Do you want something to eat?" They each munch on an apple and suddenly Kyan says,"This is like our first date." He has a smug smile plastered on his face as he looks at her with twinkling, hopeful eyes.
Rebecca laughs at his comment."Whatever," she says as she nudges him.
After everyone finishes their lunch, they start walking again. They trudge along the terrain under the overcast sky, climbing ever upwards into the crevice of the mountain.
The sun is beginning to set when they start to get ready to spend the night. They decide to spend the night in an area where there isn't too much foliage and the ground seems soft, well as soft as ground can get. As everyone starts to unpack, Rebecca walks to where Francois is laying out his sleeping bag.
"Hey," she says as she comes to a halt next to him.
"Hey, Rebecca!" He says in excitement at her presence. He seems to be handling the great outdoors better than she thought he would have.
"How much further do you think we need to go?" Rebecca asks in concern.
"I would say about 22 kilometers," François says strenuously as he stretches to smooth out the bottom of his sleeping bag.
"That is still pretty far. I guessed that the mountain was about twenty kilometers away from us"
Rebecca looks up at the rock giant looming above them.
"Yes well, unfortunately we still have to climb up the mountain, which is pretty tall. Also we aren't the fittest group of people so we move pretty slow. Quite frankly I'm surprised we made it this far," he says fluffing his pillow while looking around at the other campers. Rebecca laughs at his comment and shakes her head.
"Okay! Well it's good though. I still have a few things I need to take care of," she says in a low voice.
"That sounds very mysterious," Francois says as he stands up with his hands on his hips and raises his eyebrow.
"Nothing to concern yourself with," Rebecca assures him and walks to where her parents are lying on their sleeping bags.
Just as Rebecca finishes making her bed Kyan comes up next to her and starts to unroll his sleeping bag next to her. "First we have our first date and now we're sleeping together. I'm sorry Rebecca but I'm afraid we're moving too fast," he jokes. Rebecca giggles at the comment, rolling her eyes.
"Hey! You are the one who started making your bed next to me." She points her finger at him accusingly.
"I could sense you wanting me to come over," he defends. Rebecca laughs out loud and he joins in. Rebecca excuses herself and walks over to a darker side of the campsite. Unfortunately being in the jungle, there aren't any bathrooms around. When she gets to a site she feels comfortable is far enough but is still safe, she hears leaves rustle behind her. A large dark shadow approaches her, closing the space between them quickly. She can only see two eyes moving toward her.
"Who is it?" She asks aloud. The person or thing doesn't say anything in return.
"Kyan? This isn't funny," she says, her voice shaking with tension and anticipation.
The figure stops only one step away from her. She doesn't say anything and breathes heavily. She realises that her breathing is heavy and stops breathing all together.
