"It's not Kyan." Rebecca gasps when she recognises the voice. She stands still, unsure of how to proceed.

"I saw you recognise us this afternoon. I also saw you point that out to your friend. The one we wanted to take to the organization." Rebecca takes in a deep breath and holds it. "I want you to know that we still plan on taking him. Right after you lead us to the promised land." Rebecca tries to think of a reply to his statement.

"How do you know the area you are in right now isn't the promised land? What if we are just heading to a certain spot in a huge place?" She says finally.

"That could be the case, but I know it isn't. You see something as magical and important as that won't be so easily found. Also, I don't feel my ability being stronger," he says in a slightly harsh tone. Rebecca's mouth drops open in shock.

"You are a metahuman?"

"Yes!" He hisses through gritted teeth. "And I hate myself every day because of it!" He clenches his fists at his sides as he tries to control himself.

"Why? It is such an amazing gift," Rebecca inquires as she tries to understand the situation he is in.

"Being a freak isn't an 'amazing gift'. It is torture!"

"What do you mean? We can do things nobody else can. We are pretty much like superheroes!" She says getting excited just thinking about the possibilities.

"That is not what others think. I'm sure you have also had your fair share of being bullied because of your so called 'gift'."

"Yes, but it never made me hate myself!" She protests. Silence falls over them. He walks toward her and she backs up into a tree.

"Point is, you better not be planning anything to mislead us or there will be consequences," he says more silently. He was so close that she could feel the heat radiating from his body and his breath on her face. She took in in a shaky breath and with that he left. She waits a while before she returns to their camp site. To hide the fact that he was talking to her from the rest.

Her mother sees her approaching and stands up from where she is busy at the fire they built.

"Few! I'm glad you are okay," she pulls Rebecca into a hug. "You where gone for a really long time. What happened?" She asks as soon as she pulls back to take a look at her daughter.

"Oh! I just, um. I just wandered a little too far and got a little lost, but I found my way back." Rebecca pats herself on the back mentally for improvising so well.

"Okay good. But next time, try and stay close," her mother wags her finger at her as she turns to walk away.

"Okay, I will," she calls after her mother. She scans the campsite, her eyes landing first on Cicil -who gives her a look of warning- and then on Kyan-who is looking strangely at her-. She looks away as soon as their eyes meet and lies down on her sleeping bag.

They spend the night there, but none of them really get any sleep. Partially of their anticipation to get to the promised land but also because of the hard ground and the night sounds that surround them.

The next morning they pack up at five o'clock and start walking again. They are hoping to make it to the promised land before nightfall. Rebecca, Francois and Kyan lead the group as they head deeper into the mountains. As they are climbing up a small ledge Kyan helps Rebecca up. She swings her right leg on top and tries to haul herself up. As she does this Kyan asks,"So how are we going to fight the guys from the company?" He tries to keep his voice down.

"I thought about that last night," Rebecca says as she grunts while pulling herself up. "I'm not sure we can do it alone." Rebecca gets up and dusts herself off.

"Me neither. But we can't ask anyone else for help. We will just have to work a plan out ourselves," Kyan suggests as he takes his turn climbing up the ledge, which goes a lot more swiftly because of his fitness. She helps Kyan up the last bit and he stands up next to her.

"Yeah. I'm not sure though. All I know is that timing is key," Rebecca states with a serious expression.

"True. I don't want to get your parents involved but I must admit, I think it would be great if they could help us." They start walking again. Suddenly all the jokes they make and the games they play are out the window and all they care about now is getting rid of Cicil and his group.

"We can try to ambush them unexpectedly in front of your parents. Hopefully they will catch on and help us fight," Kyan suggests, filling his backpack higher on his back. Rebecca takes a while to think his suggestion over and a singing bird fill the temporary silence.

"Good plan," Rebecca says a little out of breath and nods in agreement.

"I'm full of great ideas," he smirks proudly. Rebecca just smiles at his cheekiness and picks up her pace, walking away from the annoyingly confident Kyan.

They continue on with their journey for another hour all the while whispering ideas about their plan and how they can execute it. Things like when and where they should ambush. Also who will have to take on which thug. This specific topic was a bit of a headache for them since they weren't sure who is actually an undercover enemy. They only knkw of Cicil and the other man who informed him. They will just have to find out who the moles are once the fight starts.

They walk until they reach a huge open space, one of the first they have encountered during the expedition. The plain only has a few bushes scattered around and is surrounded by a wall of trees, contrasting with the open space.
Rebecca walks closer to Kyan and leans over to whisper something to him. "I think it's time," she whispers to him. He looks at her with a serious expression and nods.

Bam! In the words of Elrond, "Tolo nin lu." It is time! Sorry if the chapter was a little short, the next one will make up for it though. ;)
