Chapter 21-Death comes to us all

They question the landlord of the building and also all of Dasha's neighbours. They don't get much info on anything suspicious that she did while staying there from him so they decide to further interview the rest of the people she will have had contact with there. The one neighbour knew Dasha personally and of a few places that she used to go while living there. The most important information they got from her is the area Dasha moved to after she sold her business.

Rebecca and the rest of them do some more research - looking into the places Dasha regularly visited. The purpose is to see if she displayed any previous criminal actions or interests, such as creating bombs. They couldn't find any evidence of such behaviour, but they did meet a guy she was more or less involved with. He told them that after she left he kept in touch with her and knew some of the places she traveled to.

They follow her footsteps and discover that there is a specific place she returns to again and again. They all agree that they will wait and set up an ambush for her at that specific location. It isn't really a place one could live in, more like a abandoned theatre somewhere. Rebecca's father got a map of the inside of the building. It is a very big place and has a large basement underneath. A perfect place to either store or build bombs.

They camp out in the building next to it, which has a great view of the entrance and interior of the building. After a week of nobody showing up they start to question their intel and themselves. On their sixth day they start talking about retracing their steps. They decide that they will leave if they still haven't seen anything suspicious by the eighth day.

On the evening of the seventh day, when Kyan is on watch, he sees a dark figure entering the building. He runs over and wakes up Rebecca's father, but lets the others sleep- just in case  his tired eyes fooled him and he didn't really see anything at all. Her father wakes up and rubs his eyes vigorously, trying to get his eyes to focus. He stands next to Kyan near the window and they both stare into the darkness of the night, lit only by a few burning streetlights. They see a dim light go on inside the building. Not a ceiling light, more like a lantern that she is carrying with her. Kyan looks through his binoculars and her father asks for them.

He sees an incredibly beautiful woman walking around in the building. It seems she started making herself at home. She puts away some groceries and goes into another room to get changed. During this process she never puts any lights on and does everything using only the lantern. It is already evident that she is very intelligent and careful not to get caught or undergo any suspicion. There is no way anyone would have suspected anything if just walking by the building you would have to be watching intently, like they were.
She is a redheaded woman with full, dark colored lips and piercing green eyes. Clearly a seductress. She moved like a cat and regularly looked out of the windows in suspicion.

Rebecca's mother wakes up because of all the movement in their room and soon all four of them are staring out of the window. The two other policemen that are accompanying them are sitting in the corner of the room, greatly disapproving of them all spying on her so obviously.

"She is easily the most attractive person I've seen in sweats and a tank top," Kyan says impressed. Rebecca's head shoots to him immediately. Her first thought is that of course that would be what he is thinking of but then she feels slightly insulted. Not that she cares about his opinion, but still.
Dasha comes to a stand still at the window across from them. They all duck, just in case, all except Kyan who is still glancing over the edge of the windowsill with the binoculars. He watches her disappear downstairs -where the basement is- just like she had done quite a few times that night. Kyan gives the all clear and they all pop back up.

After only a few minutes she returns.

"She has something in her hand?" Kyan says confused as he tries to concentrate on figuring out what the strange object is.

"Stop hogging the binoculars," Rebecca scolds and rips them away from him, shoving him a little in he process. He looks at her with an annoyed expression but squints when he looks back to watch Dasha. She looks through them and as soon as she does, she sees Dasha lift her arm up. Just as Kyan said, she has something in her hand and she is aiming it right at them.
"Bomb!" Rebecca yells as it dawns on her and they all scatter to take cover.

The apartment goes up in bright orange and yellow flames, bursting through the windows and consuming everything. Dasha runs packing all her belongings, the cops will be here soon and she can not be spotted near he crime scene or she will be doomed. She takes as much as she can and gets out as quickly as she can. Before she leaves she takes one last look at her handiwork, the flames dancing in her eyes. A huge chunk of the building is blown up, broken down and burning furiously. She feels confident of the fact that nobody could have survived that blast.

"Now that's what I'm talking about," she says impressed with herself with her hands on her hips and her bags lying next to her.
