Chapter 18

The start of February meant that rehearsals have started. Also River was really excited I had told her that we were going shopping the weekend before leaving so that we could get some things to take with us, because it is the height of summer over there we will need clothes that suit the weather.

"Hey babe." Dougie said getting home at just gone midnight a week before leaving

"Hey, Rivers in bed." I said kissing Dougie

"That's good. God i'm glad it's the weekend. Are you taking River shopping tomorrow?" Dougie asked

"Yeah, and I think I might get her an iPod for the trip. I know she's got a mp3 player but I think she will like and iPod more." I said handing dougie a cup of tea; I was walking around in my dressing gown.

"That's a good idea, it is a very long flight." Dougie said

"Get her to pick the one she wants." I said

"Yeah." Dougie said

"She wants to take her Guitar with her I said I didn't know if she would be allowed." I said

"What we can do is I can put hers with mine and it can be packed with mine and the boys as a "backup" one" Dougie said

"Yeah that's an idea." I said smiling

Next day I took River shopping which was a lot of fun.

"Mum I like this." She said showing me a red and blue stripped dress

"Oh that's nice give it here and you can try it on." I said taking it off her
We spent most of the day shopping and went home with just over 8 bags of shopping.

The afternoon was dedicated to putting music on Rivers new iPod she had picked the blue one she had never been a very girly girl, River liked hanging out with the boys playing game that get her messy and she loved playing her guitar even though she is only 7 she is just as good as Dougie and can sing really well.

"Room on the third floor, Not what we asked for, I'm not tired enough to sleep, One bed is broken, Next room is smoking, Air-conditioning's stuck on heat. Outside it's raining, Hear the guest upstairs complaining, about the room that's got their TV too loud, 'Cos its times like these remind me, that I gotta keep my feet on the ground" river was singing and playing her Guitar 2 days before leaving.

"River Cassidy poynter dinner." I shouted

"Oh sorry mum coming." She said I heard her put her guitar down and coming running out of her room

"Can I take my guitar mum?" she asked sitting at the table

"You can if you want to babe and don't forget to stay at school tomorrow because I'm coming in to get some school work for you to do whilst we're away." I said smiling

"Ok mum." She said eating her dinner

"And after tea we are heading over to rehearsals to take dad and the boys something to eat." I said sitting next to River and eating my dinner

We ate dinner then got in the car and took some food over to rehearsals
River wanted to take her guitar to show the boys what she had been doing all afternoon

"Look dad," she said taking her guitar and singing the first versus of Room On The 3rd Floor.

"Well done River." Tom said smiling at River

"Thanks Tom." River said

"She's been working on it all afternoon." I said smiling at River

She sat with the Boys for about an hour trying to learn the next part of the song which she managed to do before we left at just gone 8:30.
