You sat down on the old mattress like you had dozens of times before. You thought the last time you were here it was going to be the last time, but that was what you thought every time you left the group home.

"Your hair has gotten longer." Someone said. You smirked slightly, knowing exactly who the voice belonged to.

"Yep." You sighed. You closed your eyes and fell back into the bed, hands behind your head. You felt the bed slightly dip as the person sat down next to you.

"How many foster homes is that this year now? Five?" He taunted you sarcastically. "It's only June. You could still beat your record."

"At least people are willing to foster me." You opened your eyes and looked up at Levi.

"You're a real pain in the ass." He said, rolling his eyes. "But we're all glad you're back."

"Whatever, loser." You huffed, a faint smile on your lips. "So who is here?"

"Well, Erwin turned eighteen, so he's long gone." The grey eyed teen said. "We got a few new kids. They're all idiot twelve year olds though."

"What about Hanji?" You asked.

"Still here..." He mumbled, his anger causing you to giggle.

"I'm glad to hear you didn't kill her while I was gone." You sat up and looked over your shoulder at Levi. "Let's go do something." He crossed his arms and furrowed his brows.

"You're not getting into trouble five minutes into arriving back, are you?" Levi questioned. You simply smiled at him and walked to your window, looking out into the alleyway that led to freedom.

"I'll only get in trouble if someone rats me out." You say, pushing the window open.

"I have no clue why the haven't glued that damn thing shut." Your raven haired friend sighed.

The two of you were laying side by side on a rock, staring up into the night sky. In New York, sometimes it was hard to see the stars, but you did manage to see a few brave lights beam through into the city.

"Do you ever want kids?" You asked softly. Levi turned his head to you, but you kept your eyes focused on the sky.

"I'm seventeen. I don't have to worry about that now, do I?" He said. You chuckled slightly before turning on your side to face him, leaning down on your elbow.

"You know what I mean, Levi." You said. Growing up in the foster care system had turned you away from the idea of having kids. It sort of made you feel like you were broken or damaged in a more significant way than the other kids you had met. You didn't want to feel broken.

"I don't know, (y/n)..." Levi said slowly. "I guess I would... It would be like giving someone something we never had, if that makes any sense."

"You would want to be a dad? Like drop the kids off at school before driving off to so,e cubical?" You giggled, picturing Levi rushing three disorganized kids into a mini van. It didn't seem like him. You had always pictured him becoming some millionaire with a fast paced life style. He surely had the smarts to get himself there.

"I like boring, (y/n). I've had enough excitement to last me a lifetime." He said, looking back up into the sky. You starting thinking about the stories he had told you about his life before ending up in the group home. It was a pretty screwed up situation, but everyone you had met in foster care was in a screwed up situation.

"I want you to do something big with your life." You said, laying back down. Your whole life, you never thought you would amount to anything. It had been drilled into your head that you were just some filthy kid that would never matter. You had decided you would accept the lifestyle most damaged people took. But Levi was different. He was intelligent, handsome, creative. He shouldn't be damned to a small existence like you were.

"Why?" He asked.

"Because you're special..." Your voice was just above a whisper. You suddenly felt Levi get on top of you.

"I think you're special too." His face hovering only an inch away from yours.

"No, I'm not..." You sighed. You felt his lips pressed up against yours.

"You are. You just don't know it yet."
