You could breath again.

Your lungs filled with air and instantly, your body relaxed, knowing the struggle was over. You laid there on your back, slowly inhaling and exhaling. But the sensation felt...different... It was odd, and the only way you could describe it was as not feeling real.

You opened your eyes, but they were instantly blinded by a powerful white light. You covered your eyes with your hands as you waited for the light it fade.

"Oi. Get up." A rough voice muttered above you. Cautiously, you moved your hands from your face and allowed your eyes to flutter open. To your surprise, they didn't need to recover from the light. There were no spots in your vision, or any pain. Still in a haze about what was going on, you pushed the swirling questions in your mind aside to look up at the voice's owner.

He had dark hair that he allowed to fall into his face. His stormy grey eyes pierced through the gaps of his charcoal strains, staring directly into your large (e/c) orbs. You felt that he looked familiar, but you couldn't place his face to anything.

Well, you couldn't remember anything.

"W-Where am I? Who am I? Who are you?" You said in a sudden panic that had rushed over your body. You stared wide eyed up at the man, who just sighed. He seemed disappointed.

"This is purgatory." He said in a monotone voice. This only confused you more.

"Like... Where dead people go?" You asked. "No. No. No, that's not possible." You vigorously shook your head and started to push yourself away from the man.

"You can run, but there isn't anywhere you can go. You'll just be stuck running in circles until you calm down." He said, taking a step towards you. "Just come with me so you can go where you're supposed to."

He extended a hand out to you. You stared at it for a second, unsure of if you could trust anything he was saying. But seeing as he was the only thing you could see for miles of white, you gingerly took his hand.

You were engulfed by a warm light for an instant, then released. You found yourself on a cement path. Around you was a forest. The leaves were just starting to change colors, which meant it must have been early fall.

"I know this place!" You smiled. You looked over at the raven haired man, who had a faint look of relief on his face. "Eren proposed here!"

His calm look instantly vanished. He furrowed his eyebrows and looked away.

"Tell me about it." He said forcefully, releasing your hand.

You took a deep breath and stepped forward.

"He asked me if I wanted to go for a walk before the weather got too cold. He drove me out to this hiking trail...and..." You struggled to remember the details of the event. "And we went off trail into a meadow. And then he proposed." You said confidently.

"Are you sure about everything you just said?" He asked, looking back up to you. He made you doubt yourself, but the image seemed so clear. You nod with a faint smile on your face. "Very well." He sighed.

You appeared in a hallway of what must have been an elementary school, seeing as the walls were decorated in small hand prints. You smile warmly.

"Our daughter's first day of school..." You chuckled, remembering how chaotic that morning was. "Eren and I dropped her off."

You found your fingers playing with a necklace you hadn't even noticed you had on. You looked down at it, looking at the locket. You suddenly frowned.

"Am I going to ever see her again?" You ask. You release the locket and look over at the man with you. He didn't say anything for a moment. He just stared at you with a forlorn look in his eyes.

"Let's go." He said, taking your arm firmly and flashed you to a new place.

You let out a small gasp.

"Eren died here..." You whispered, looking around the hospital room. It wasn't a room you could ever forget, even though all hospital rooms sort of looked the same to you in the past.

"What happened to him?" The man asked. You took a deep, shaky breath.

"He was in an accident..." You murmured, "I missed him so much..."

You looked over at the man, catching the pain in your (e/c) eyes also in his steel grey ones. You wondered why he would be so hurt. But before you could ask him anything, you flashed to another location.

"Shit." The man muttered.

You were on railroad tracks that seemed to stretch on into nothing. There weren't any trees or buildings anywhere you could see. Just this track and a field that went on for an eternity.

"What's going on?" You asked, anxious because of the panic on the man's face that he was unable to hide.

"They're going to take you. You have to remember." He said, grabbing your shoulders and staring into your (e/c) orbs.

"Who are 'they'? Where are they taking me?' You asked.

"I can't tell you." He said, furrowing his eyebrows. He snapped his head to the right as the sound of a train's whistle blew.

"What's happening?" You questioned. The man looked back at you, allowing his raven bangs to hang in his face.

"You have to remember everything." He said. "Please."

"I-I do. After you showed me those things." You choked out. He gave a frustrated huff and shook his head.

Once again, the train's whistle ripped through the air. Now, it was starting to come into view. A sleek, black dot that was slowly growing.

"Who do you love? Your soulmate?" He asked, gripping your shoulders tighter.

"Eren." You said. He sealed his eyes shut and huffed. Once again, he stared into your eyes and asked.

"Who do you love?"

"Eren."

The train was growing closer. You wanted to run off the tracks, but found your feet unable to move. Not because you were frozen in fear, but like some kind of force was holding you down, preventing you from making an escape into the safety of the field.

"Why can't I move?" You asked, your voice trembling.

"You have to say it or they'll take you away from me, (y/n)!" He yelled. A strong wind started to blow, pulling at your clothing.

"I-I don't know!" You stuttered.

"Think, brat." He clenched his jaw tightly.

You closed your eyes tightly, racking your brain for a name. You knew the name. It was there, waiting for you to recognize it as the name of the person you loved.

Anxiety was growing as the train grew closer and the wind picked up speed. Your (h/c) hair started flying around your head in an irritating manner.

"Now, (y/n)! Say it!"

The train was only feet away. Soon, it would collide with your body and take you to wherever your final destination was. You thought so hard. You felt like you were about to be taken away from someone you held dearly, and you just wanted that to go away.

And suddenly, it was there. You opened your eyes and with a pounding heart, you yelled the name, clearly and proudly.

"It's you, Levi!"

Heeeeyyyy. So I hope you enjoyed the chapter. I didn't really know what I was doing while writing it, but whatever.

The song is "The Mortician's Daughter" by Black Veil Brides. I know this chapter doesn't really go with the meaning of the song, but this story came out while listening to it. Maybe it's because of the title...
