You were sitting in a fetal position in your bathtub, of all places. You built yourself a fortress of pillows and blankets to comfort yourself. You just felt so depressed. You were tiered of putting on a fake smile everyday and acting like everything was fine. You weren't fine. No matter how many times to tried to convince yourself of this, you weren't fine.
You sat alone as the waves of depression spilled over you, over and over again. You wanted comfort. You wanted to be happy, to have your laugh be genuine.
It was completely silent in your small apartment. You lived alone, no roommates or pets. You often enjoyed the silence. You could have all of your thoughts to yourself. But as many times as you enjoyed it, you also hated it. It was lonely, and cold. And now of all times, you wanted someone there.
You suddenly heard your front door knob moving. You started to panic immediately. Someone was trying to break in. Was it a robber? You jumped out of the bath tub and started frantically trying to find something to defend yourself with.
After seeing there was nothing in your bathroom or your bed room, you took off down your hallway and into the kitchen. You grabbed your cellphone on the counter and the largest knife you could find in your drawer.
"I have a gun!" You yelled at the person behind the door. You held the knife tightly between your fingers, making your knuckles turn white.
"Great." The person replied nonchalantly. You lowered your knife and turned your head a bit to the side. The voice sounded familiar...very familiar. The name came back to you.
"Levi?" You asked, taking a step closer to the door. The door finally popped open, revealing none other than Levi on the other side.
"You have a great lock. It was a fucking pain to open." Levi grumbled, looking at the lock, then closing the door. He then looked back up at you. His steel grey eyes glanced over you, taking in your condition. You were wearing still wearing your pajamas from two nights before and you hadn't bothered showering or brushing your hair since you hadn't left the house or had anyone visit you. At least, an announced visitor. The bags under your eyes had become more prominent from the increasing lack of sleep you were getting and your body appeared thinner because you also hadn't bothered eating.
"You missed three days of work." Levi said, looking into your (e/c) orbs.
"I told Erwin. He said I could." You replied. You actually hadn't, but Erwin was aware of your condition. So if you didn't show up for a few days, Erwin would not get upset or suspicious. He was very understanding, and you were lucky to of had a boss like that. You had been fired before for doing this same thing from misunderstanding higher ups.
"Are you sick or something." Levi asked, but because of his voice, it seemed more like it was a statment than a question. You didn't know how to reply. To some extent, you were. Mentally, you were sick. Physically, you were healthy. You just stared at him.
"Okay..." Levi sighed, "Are you okay?" This time, it actually sounded like he was asking. You put on a fake smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine." You said happily. Levi could tell just by looking into your eyes that you were lying. Your (e/c) eye looked shattered and drained from life. It pintched at the edges of his heart.
"(f/n) are you? Really?" Levi's voice was concerned, at least concerned for him. You nodded your head.
"Yes, I'm fine." You insisted. "And you should be heading home. It's getting late, and they is work tomorrow." Levi just crossed his arms.
"I can tell you're lying." He said. The smile vanished from your face. Your arms dropped down to your sides. You placed the knife and your phone on a table next to you. "Just tell me what's wrong, and I'll help."
"I..." Tears started collecting in your eyes. Your eyes dropped down, looking at the floor. You took deep breaths to try to calm yourself. The last thing you wanted was for someone as strong as Levi see you in a weak state.
You suddenly felt strong arms wrap around you.
"No one ever said it was bad to cry. It's part of being a human." He whispered into your ear. That's when you fell apart. Uncontrollable sob poured out for the first time in a long time.
You were finally letting go of all the weight you had carried around for so long. The thoughts that had been swirling around in your mind vanished, leaving you in that present moment. They left you right there, in Levi's arms, to heal. The sensation of healing was familiar to you. You would manage to build yourself back up. But like a house of cards, you would fall back down next time a gust of wind blew. But maybe this time things would be different. You had someone. Someone to hold your hand.
"I'm sorry..." You cried into his shoulder. You felt his chest rise in a deep breath.
"There is nothing to be sorry about. Don't apologize." He lightly scolded you. You weakly nodded you head weakly.
"Thank you." You mumbled. Your tears slowed as you started to calm down. Your head rested on Levi's chest. His heartbeat pumped under your head steadily. You closed your eyes and enjoyed the warmth Levi provided.
"You better go to work tomorrow." He said softly. A faint smile appeared on your lips. A genuine smile.
"I will." You laughed softly.
A genuine laugh.

I know this chapter was a bit of a downer, but I wanted to write it for a friend. Plus, I wanted to have a quick chapter to put up with the story.
The song for this chapter is Christina Perri's Human. It's a beauitful, but sad song. I recommend you listen to it.
Hope you enjoyed the chapter! More to come!
