ADAM POV
As I had hoped, Taylor fell right back asleep as soon as we were out of the city. She was exactly like Lottie in that regard, if she wasn't driving the car made her sleep. I had really been hedging my bets on her sleeping so she wouldn't know where we were headed. It was about a 4 hour drive to our destination, and somehow I made it with only one stop (which I woke Taylor up for so she could go to the bathroom and stuff, but she fell asleep again) and without Taylor realising where we were.
"Tay, time to wake up babe....we're here!" I said, having gotten out of the car and opened her door.
"Hmmmm.... Hi!" She said, opening her eyes and smiling adorably at me.
"Hi!" I replied, replicating the smile. I stood back as she got out of the car.
TAYLOR POV
Somehow Adam drove multiple hours without me waking up, except for a quick pee break, and now we were at our destination and I had no clue where it was.... That was until Adam moved out of the way and I was fully awake.
"Ummm....Adam? What are we doing here?" I asked, carefully. We were outside the cute little café I used to work at when we were in high school.
"I thought we could revisit this old town.... It's where all of this began really." He replied, signalling between the two of us and smiling charmingly.
My heart beat sped up as he held out a hand for me to get out of the car. First we just wandered around town, getting take away coffees from the café (which had sadly changed hands in the last 8 years) and telling each other about our lives in high school, which were pretty different.
Then we got to the front of Coomberidge High School. My old high school.....our old high school....the place I first laid eyes on Adam. Adam looked down at me, smiling at me as I was wrapped around his arm as we walked.
At this point my heart was going a million miles a minute and I had no clue why....well sort of....there was a feeling of excitement and anticipation in the air.
We stopped next to the bike rack outside the front of the main doors. The place where I had locked my old bike every day.....the place where Adam first spoke to me.
I felt something squeeze my hands and I looked up to find Adam standing directly in front of me.
ADAM POV
So far the day was going as planned. We had wandered around the town and we were now at our old high school. I led Taylor towards the front doors, next to the bike rack. While she looked like she was in a daydream, I carefully unwrapped her arms from mine and stood in front of her, holding her hands in mine.
Here goes nothing....
"11 years ago today, I spoke to a beautiful girl for the first time....on this exact spot. It had taken me almost a whole year to get the guts up to talk to her, and of course I chose the last possible moment to do it and I let her go. 10 and a bit years later, I spoke to the same girl again. This time I didn't let her go, I held on for dear life. Taylor, you are the second brightest light in my life, after Charlotte, and I seriously cannot imagine living a single day more without you by my side. 11 years ago, on this exact spot I stood and spoke to you for the first time, and today..." I knelt down on one knee watching Taylor as tears started to build up in her eyes and she smiled at me, "today, I kneel before you and ask you if you would make me the luckiest man on earth. Taylor Swift, will you marry me?" I asked, pulling out the ring box and opening it for her to see.
I watched Taylor very closely. She was shocked, but smiling and crying all at the same time.
"YES! A THOUSAND TIME YES!" She replied.
I stood up and wrapped my arms around her, kissing her with everything I had, feeling her smiling.
As soon as we pulled away I took the ring out of the box and placed it on her finger. It fit perfectly.
TAYLOR POV
I need someone to pinch me.....confirm that this is in fact really real life, not just some fairytale.
Did ADAM WILES just ask me to marry him in the exact spot we first spoke? Did that just happen? Did I just say yes? Am I really getting married?
So many questions rushed through my mind as Adam wrapped me in his arms and kissed me. That was enough to know this was real.
When we pulled away, I finally got a clear view of the ring he had bought, as he paced it on my finger. It was amazing, just the right balance of shiny and classy- exactly what I'd pictured as my engagement ring.
"WOW! This is incredible! You did good babe!" I teased Adam as I stared at the ring then looked up at his cute little happy face.
"Well how about we call a certain little miss who insisted she had to talk to you as soon as possible after I proposed?" Adam asked.
"Wait a second.... Lottie- the chattiest chatterbox- knew about this and didn't tell? How did you get that to happen?" I asked, taking his phone from him to dial the number for Amy's parents house.
"I promised to show her the ring before she left to her grandparents if she didn't tell and didn't make a fuss....a bribe of sorts." Adam replied, grinning at me.
"Hello Jack, this is Taylor and Adam." Adam said, as the call went through and he put it on speaker.
"Hello kids! Did you want to speak to Lottie? She's currently running circles around me in order to get he phone." Jack replied
"Haha, yeah that would be our reason for calling." Adam replied.
"Apparently comgratualtions are in order, according to Lottie?" Jack asked.
"Yes, sir. And thank you." Adam replied.
"Okay, I'll put my granddaughter the bouncing bunny on the phone. Have a good night kids, see you tomorrow! And congratulations again!" He said, getting off the line.
"Daddy? Taylor?" Lottie asked as soon as she had the phone.
"Hey bug!" I said to her.
"TAY! Did daddy give you the ring? Isn't it pretty? I'm so happy! Now you can really be my second mommy!!" Lottie spoke really quickly, barely taking any breaths, making me and Adam smile at each other.
"It is pretty sweetheart. And I can tell you are very excited! What do you say to being my flower girl when your daddy and I get married?" I asked me, getting a very high pitched scream at the other end of the phone.
"Grandma, I get to be flower girl!" Lottie said in the background, "Really Tay? I get a pretty dress and everything?"
"Of course you do bug, I wouldn't have anyone else do it!" I reply, as Adam wrapped his arms around me from behind and rested his chin on my shoulder.
"My oh my! This is so fantastic!" Lottie said, "Oh, I have to go now, its lunch time!"
"Ok, you go have lunch Lots and we will see you tomorrow morning!" Adam said.
"Bye Daddy! Bye Taytay!" Lottie said.
"Love you bug!" I replied, before we both hung up.
"So Mrs-soon-to-be-Wiles, what would you like to do this afternoon?" Adam asked
"Well, soon-to-be-husband....why don't we go to that diner everyone used to go to and get some lunch....and then see where the day takes us." I suggest.
"Adventure day, right?" Adam replies, holding me tightly as we walked back towards the car.
